The color was a rich, moist brown with no signs of dryness or mold. They felt fresh and pliable, which was reassuring. The pods were a bit firm to cut with a standard kitchen knife and required a little extra pressure, but once opened they worked perfectly. I was able to make a full mason jar of homemade vanilla paste, and the results were very impressive. The aroma was strong and the flavor was rich and smooth. Beautiful and flavorful beans! Have used these directly in cake batter and vanilla cake icing and they are delicious! Also used them in making our own vanilla extract by adding pure grain alcohol to 6-8 full beans and wait about 6 months. Very fragrant and delicious vanilla flavor!
