Very High Quality Clamp Lamp
Unlike many of the reviewers here for this product, I bought this to simply use as a lamp on a photographic lamp stand, with regular incandescent light bulbs, for use as a lamp next to my computer table, & another one next to book shelves. All I have to do is detach the clamp from this lamp, & attach the stand to where the clamp would usually go. I've tried several of the products made for that purpose, ranging from $5 - $12 each. Some of them arrived with bent shades due to damages suffered during shipping, & they had just been thrown in a packing box with little protection. Others had clamps that broke after making a few adjustments or tightening the clamp on the ball. Another one had a shade that never could be properly screwed onto the socket section.Tired of all that, I decided to look for a higher quality lamp that was sturdy & would accept 100 Watt bulbs (until my current supply is used up). I had a difficult time finding any clamp lamps that met all of my criteria, until I came across this one, & it is ideal. This lamp is sturdy, with a heavy-duty shade. It comes in its own box which helps to protect it in transport. I ordered two & neither one arrived with any dents at all. It's rated for 100 Watt bulbs. The cord & plug are heavier-duty than the ones I had previously. Best of all, the switch is on the cord, meaning that I don't have to jiggle the lamp while turning it on or off (because the switch is not on the socket, like all the rest were), & as with the rest of this lamp, the switch is heavy-duty with a positive "click" when pressing the switch. This is a product that's worth the money, due to its superior construction & features. I like it so much that I'm ordering two more, just in case they stop making it, so I'll have a couple of "back-ups" for the future.

Grand Glow and great dome
When I first ordered this dome/lamp it was more for novelty, figuring it would glow a bit and I'd get my jollies for awhile until it faded and then still have a basic dome. When I first began using this lamp it was with the Exo Terra Night-Glo Moonlight bulb and was amazed at how long the dome glowed and how much it actually illuminated after the bulb was turned off. It doesn't glow after the power to the bulb is turned off nearly as long when using, for instance, a daylight blue bulb, but for the time it does with such a bulb it is the perfect amount of glow-illumination and duration for when I'm feeding a nocturnal feeder such as a Green Tree Python - just the right amount of light for me to see by without inhibiting the GTP. It might be nice if this lamp came with an inline dimmer or if the mfg would use the same method of coating for use on a hood, because I'd love to use the former for regulating heat intensity when not in conjunction with a thermostat or the latter for use on an aquatic setup. It is highly likely that I will invest in at least a couple more of these lamps in the future.

Great concept
It has a great concept but it wasn't quite right for me. I have a bearded dragon (Toothless) and I have to worry about uvb along with heat. When I was using a mercury vapor bulb I couldn't use this because it isn't vented enough and it would greatly reduce the life of the bulb. Well, in my current setup I'm using a 150 w flood. Before I had my timers set up correctly the lamp worked just as advertised. All the lights went out and the dome would glow. Toothless would look at the glow just as she is on her way to bed.The reason it isn't all that great for me is that I am using an Exo Terra Electronic Dimming Terrarium Lamp Controller, 2 x 40 Watts cCSAus (I tried adding a link but it didn't work) and I have my basking lamp shut off 20 min before my lights. The glow is gone by the time my tube lights dim and turn off.All in all I would greatly recommend it.

Exo Terra Glow Light
I've been using this for my Russian tortoise and it's been just fine. The glow is really noticeable. I'm not sure how much good that does for him, but he doesn't seem to mind it and I think it's nice to be able to see where he is or whatnot without having to turn on his light in the night. The clamp is a little hard to work, and be careful touching the lamp after you've had it on for a while because it can get really hot, but other than that it's a really fine thing. I like that the switch is located on the cord, as well.

The best reptile oriented clamp lamp yet
I have tried several brands, this model the 5.5" is the best clamp lamp I have used yet. Being a porcelain socket allows it to handle up to 100 watt bulbs. The reason I only give 4 stars is because the glow in the dark aspect doesn't really work.

Very Good Reptile Heating Lamp
I use this in my russian tortoise's 4 ft diameter kiddy pool and it provides enough heat for him even in the winter. I use this with a 100 watt reptile bulb to provide the overall heat for the tortoise, and I use a 100 watt ceramic spot heater in a smaller lamp to provide his spot light. When I bought it I did not know it had a glow light coating applied to it. Even with the bulb running for 10 to 12 hours the glow only lasts an hour or less. Otherwise it is a very good heating lamp with a wide dispersion pattern making it effective for overall heating of a reptile terrarium.

Works for 150 watt basking bulb
Very good lamp for me I have to use 120 and 150 watt bulbs when my AC is on for my chameleon. This fixture gives my bulbs a few more weeks than my old fixtures. I have also recently found 120 watt Philip's Argo plant lights and is working great.

Excellent build quality, but not built to last when used with high wattage CHEs or bulbs
Great build quality, but could not handle a 150w ceramic heat emitter in the long run. Didn't make it a year, but was still far and away the best heat lamp I've used so far. I wish they made an aluminum reflector version available for higher wattage CHEs.By the way, the "1 year warranty" is a total sham. If you try to call exoterra's listed support number it'll reroute you to an array of random spam places.

A top quality item significantly safer than the last unit from a different manufacturer.
The last heat lamp surround that I purchased from the manufacturer 'Prorep' decided it would melt inside my bearded dragons vivarium, aside from smouldering and causing toxic plastic smoke it also melted the bulb which caused the bulb to drop onto the ground of the vivarium which also happened to be a Prorep bulb, thankfully I was home when this happened. My biggest concern was naturally for my beardy, I urgently needed a new bulb and a heat lamp and living in the middle of nowhere I did panic slightly. Thankfully I ordered one of these and it arrived the next day with a 150watt bulb. The difference in quality is evident, there's no plastic to melt, it's covered in ceramic which disperses the heat, there's no hot spots on the surround like my last one and the exoterra bulb feels hotter which is a bonus.I can't thank them enough for getting this to me for the day after and I am now a firm exoterra customer.
