A plastic tray would have been a better choice than the metal one included, which in time will rust. The spring-loaded doors make transferring birds more difficult (you need one hand to hold the door back) and there’s more potential for harming them. But it’s a nifty item once you’ve figured out where everything fits together, and the only one l could find online that includes both a solid and a barred divider. Hooded food containers help to reduce seed scattering. Update three months later... this cage has been great: it's easy to clean and move around. My canary hen refused to build a nest in it, though, and I've used it to house the weaned chicks. The tray hasn't shown any signs of rust so far. I'm about to reorder.
