Rough Country Hydraulic Tailgate Assist for Toyota Tundra (2007-2021) - Driver-Side, Slow-Release Tailgate Damper

Just installed this on my tundra and I must say it is awesome! took me 15 minutes if even that, most of that time was getting tools. You get three parts in the box the strut the bolt and the bracket. Mine came with instructions and it was so simple and easy. No clearance issues and it works beautifully. This will help especially in the mornings for tool unload and save wear and tear on my tailgate. Rough Country really thought this product through and made it as simple as it could be without major modifications. you will need a t-40 torx bit and a 13mm wrench or deep socket for this install but that is really it. Even the most novice of do it yourself people can install this quickly and easily and there are a few videos out there showing how to do it so don't be alarmed if you cant figure it out. Great purchase.

1G Toyota Tundra quality is unmatched and you can definitely feel it in the heft of the tailgate. This kit helps make it a little easier for those who need some extra pneumatic support or convenience at a budget. This kit appears to be good quality. Every hardware you need is included in this kit which takes less than 5 mins to install with just a T40 bit and 13MM wrench. You could literally (yes, literally) do this blindfolded. I have only two minor annoyances. One, the boot of the strut rubs ever so unnoticeably slightly with the gate. Two, the gate cable gets pinched as I closed the gate. This is more an issue with the cable than this kit. Leaving it closed for a while will "reform" the cable so it's no longer an issue. Regardless, this is an overwhelmingly great product for the price.

Install took about 15 minutes and it works great. My 2008 Tundra has a strut inside the brake light housing that stopped working. Instead of dealing with that hassle I used this device which is installed on the exterior. Works great so far. If it keeps working well I will probably add one to our Tacoma which doesnt have soft close.

Quite disappointed with this product. Open the tailgate rarely and most of this winter from January to end of march not at all due to a knee injury so the truck sat. Upended the tailgate the other day and it almost fell to where the cables stop it. The cylinder lost all its pressure over the winter.

The installation process was quick and straightforward—it took me about five minutes once I had my tools ready. A tip: avoid using a power drill, as it could strip the bolts. A simple socket wrench is all you need to get the job done right. So far, the product is performing exactly as advertised. I’ll be keeping an eye on its durability over time, but based on my initial experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this again. If you’re considering a tailgate piston add-on, this is a great choice—just take your time with the installation, and you’ll be very satisfied!.

I put this on a 2019 Toyota Tundra. I am a big fan of how soft my tailgate lowers now. I will say I struggled to find the correct way to install it so the cable did not get caught up. After a few adjustments, it works as it should.

Great company to work with. Their hydraulic Tailgate Assist is an easy and practical modification. Now I’m looking at other Rough Country products to install on my 2019 Toyota Tundra.

El tornillo que viene como reemplazo tiene una cuerda diferente que el de agencia, tuve que ajustar con un máchelo la rosca existente en la caja para que pudiera entrar bien el tornillo. Por las adaptaciones recomendaría buscar otra marca.
