They are really easy to install, completely black out the light and are good looking. The mechanism to push up the shade is solid and works very well. Most recently, I purchased the linen color and it has great texture and color (picture attached). Previously, I purchased other roman shades from JCPenney that stated "blackout" and they are not at all. Light comes in through the shades. After that, I bought 2 roman shades from Green Mountain (ivory) and loved them. Then I ordered 3 more for my son's room (the ones with the black border) and most recently 4 more for my room (linen). Keep in mind that shades mounted on the inside will have a slight gap on the side with a small amount of light coming in. The shades themselves do not allow light through the fabric.
