Favorite blanket
I’ll just go off the ideas here. No off putting smell. The color is exactly what it looks like in the picture. The thickness is actually super thin and light. Super super light. Through what seems like possible magic it keeps you plenty warm in the cold, as cold as 30’s F in my uses, without being too hot in the 70’s. This blanket is well designed and super soft and comfortable. I kind of want to buy three or four and just surround myself in them.

Super Compact Lightweight Warmer Weather Alternative
Basically a super comfy space blanket. You wrap it around yourself and can immediately feel your heat reflecting back at you. Just to be clear, this does not replace a sleeping bag in even moderately cold weather. I had to use it in a pinch out in the New Mexico desert on a night that dipped down to 19 degrees, I would not want to do that again. But no big surprise because that’s not what it’s designed for. During the spring, summer and early fall I love going out for a couple of days at a time on my bike, this blanket, a lightweight hammock (with bug net) and a tarp is my favorite ultralight fair weather gear. It’s not water proof, but water does bead up on the outer side and it dries super fast. It’s pretty durable. Packs up small enough that it spends all winter in my backpack. I’ve lost count of how many times it’s come in handy when a train or bus is running late. It also makes a great sleeping bag liner. Turns a 3 season bag into something that can get you through “non arctic” winter nights.

Pretty Darn Good
I recently received my Snugpak Jungle Blanket, Olive, 90 x 72 X-Large. The product gets good reviews for the most part, but there are a few reviews that kind of made me wonder about this product. So, I'm going address some of the negative comments below Negative Comments From Other Reviewers 1. Someone said, this product is not 90 x 72. Mine was exactly 90 x 72 as I expected. 2. Someone said, this product is not water resistant. I put my hand under the blanket, cupped my hand, then poured water over the blanket. The water just sat in a pool on top of the blanket over my hand. I got tired of doing this after 2 minutes, so I stopped. The inside where my hand was was still bone dry. The product is definitely water resistant, maybe closer to water proof. Definitely, it is water resistant. 3. Some complained the insulation wasn't stitched so it fell right to the bottom of the blanket. From what I can tell the insulation is stitched to the inside layer of the blanket about every 10 inches, so there is a fair amount of stitching holding it together. I've had no issue with the insulation moving at all so far. Maybe that will change in the future and if it does I'll try to update this review. 4. I would agree that this product is wind proof. I've yet to experience any wind come through. I put my mouth up to the shell and blew real hard. Very little air comes through. Which also speaks for it's breath ability. I stay dry under this blanket, condensation has not been an issue. I am confident that it is wind proof, no issues at all. 5. A reviewer said, "I Can't stuff it back into the bag" Yeah, I can see this being an issue. It is pretty tight, but it will go back in. Call it compact. 6. Some said it's not warm enough. Well, it is pretty thin, but it's also a big 90 x 72 blanket that weights less than 2 lbs. What do these people really expect? I do a lot of camping. My sleeping bag is an old 40 degree cloth bag. I typically use the sleeping bag as a blanket. So this is where the Snugpak blanket comes in. I use the snugpak blanket against my body. This thing really holds the heat in. The old sleeping bag then goes on top of the snugpak for extra weight and insulation. I have a hard time believing anyone would get cold on a 20-40 degree night if they used the snugpak blanket the way I use it. Granted you also need some insulation below you, but I think you get the idea. In A Nut Shell It's everything the product description said. I'm very happy with mine and should I destroy this one I would buy another. In my opinion this is a pretty cool (warm) blanket to keep in the car, take camping, use at a sporting event etc. I like it.

Medium sized, and thinnish.
I ordered two of these (black and coyote) for the cars/emergency bags. They are the equivalent to "sleeping bag blankets" essentially. The material and construction is that of a light sleeping back. One thick, shiny nylon side for the outside, and a thinner more comfortable shiny nylon inside. There is no light fluffy or fleece side. It's relatively warm, but not super warm. And the size.... I'm 6 feet tall, and both are just as tall as me. They cover my feet but not my head.. Maybe about 72 inches long or so. Good for a blanket on a warm or cool night, but not much more. ANY decent lightweight sleeping bag will give you better sleeping coverage and protection. However, if you want more of a blanket, and light coverage, this thing is pretty good. If you are short or petite, even better. It has it's place as a medium sized blanket for a car, camper, travel, or emergency bag for summer. Or if you want an added blanket in a sleeping bag. If you want cold weather/winter protection, look a little further. It's smaller than the picture makes it seem too. But it's still nice in it's own way. The stuff sack is convenient but only OK. The compression straps are stitched into the seam on one end and not over the top. It will rip soon. The stitches are already popping. For the price you get a nice sleeping-bag style blanket. It could have it's place. But it has limitations in size and coverage, I'm still keeping it, because I'm in Florida. Update: This is a decent blanket. It's like a sleeping bag blanket. Nylon on both sides and a little bit of insulation. It's comfortable. In the picture there, the blanket is probably sideways and going to that guys knees only. I turned the A/C to 69 and slept on top of the bed in just this for a week in shorts and a light sweatshirt with a fan blowing on me. Slept like a baby. The nylon stops a breeze, and I'd say maybe adds 10-15 degrees of warmth. This would be a nice blanket to have in a car for an event, for sitting on the porch or at a casual campsite. It would also work for camping in warm weather as your sleep system (ie-Florida or similar or summers elsewhere) Heck you could pull it in your sleeping bag as a "blankie" and it would probably feel great, but it's not going to help you much in winter or fall cold. ANY light weight sleeping bag wound be much better for that. It does pack down to a little bigger than a foot ball.

Quality blanket/quilt. loads of uses.
This is a great blanket for the price. I have several and have made both under-quilts and top-quilts for my hammock with minimal sewing effort. These compress down really small and easily fit back in the compression bag. I'd be curious to know what the insulation is, but from what I can gather, it is a higher tech synthetic insulation that would continue to provide good insulation even when wet. As top quilt I am amazed at how lightweight this is, and yet how warm it keeps you. You can barely even feel any weight on top of you. It's generously sized to perform a versatile number of functions. I've heard complaints from other reviewers on Snugpak products now that they are made in China, versus the UK, but I have seen nothing to evidence that the stitching or materials are suddenly sub-par as result of this. The price has dropped significantly though and that's why I bought this in the first place. (I think the China-haters don't really bring much subjectivity to the table anyway, because they've turned it into a political issue anyway...) I also have a Snugpak top quilt, which is beefier but sleeps a bit too warm for me. I'll save that for colder temps when it justifies the extra size bulk that it adds.

Quality Blanket, Multi Purpose, Warmer
Very pleased. I am 5’ 11” tall and I chose the XL to have a little more coverage. While standing the XL can drape over my head nicely and give me full body coverage. While laying down this blanket is spacious, I won’t be rolling out from under it during the night. This blanket has a softer underside than the wind proof, spill resistant shell side. This is just a little bit larger than a USGI poncho liner and noticeably thicker. My old USGI poncho liner looks almost see-thru in comparison. The OD green is dark green. I will probably purchase the regular size Jungle Blanket in black just for an option when I want to pack less or be lighter but I cannot imagine the difference is that much. I wish this was UK made. For what I need it to do made in China is perfectly acceptable and more affordable. Quality of construction and sewing appears quality. Buy with confidence. This is a WAY better blanket than the USGI poncho liner. For most sleeping situations I expect to sleep on a air mattress with this Jungle Blanket on top of me as a blanket and a camo tarp on top of that. If I need to I can fold this blanket in half to have some blanket beneath me like a sleeping bag. In a pinch this can be set up as a sun shade tying paracord to the corners. I already own a Snugpak Softie 3 so this is a good addition to my sleep system options.

Awesome home blanket, great sleeping bag alternative
I love this jungle blanket!!it's big enough that if you are clever you can put two layers under you and one on top or the opposite for max warmth, but it's pretty warm just used as a blanket. It's light weight so it's not going to be comfortable in below zero conditions, but it is far superior to a poncho liner. it's not going to really keep you dry, but it will smell nice after a 3 months of nightly use as a regular blanket. dog hair and dirt don't stick to it. while it's a light weight and breathable material, it's heavy enough that i'm not concerned about it falling apart from merely using it. it can be right up against the skin and not make you sweaty, however if you are damp it seems to be too much moisture to allow all of it to pass through. normal body moisture is no problem, though. i'll buy no other blanket for the rest of my life, if i need more i'll double up on snug pak xl jungle blankets. it's big enough for my queen bed and small enough for my bivy sack. well worth every penny. the separated top layer is actually fantastic and increases it's heat retention and it only makes it hard to find the edge sometimes lol. i cut off the tags and (perhaps it was my fault) noticed a seam unraveling. i stitched it up with some green thread and it has not had another problem since.

Top notch product...and with a few mods, unbeatable.
I was not in the military earlier in life; as a result, I am more or less "free" from the perennial obsession of owning a GI poncho liner. When it came time to fill this need I purchased this instead, and I have not felt shorted. This blanket is generously sized, yet packs very compact. It is very light but extraordinarily warm. It does not have the anchor points found on a "woobie"; however, after a bit of research, I personally found that these can be added very inexpensively and easily without cutting, altering or damaging the blanket in any way (feel free to contact me if you would like more details and I will be happy to explain the process specifically). Overall--this blanket is a solid and worthwhile purchase; with some small additions, its utility can be further expanded to make it a truly critical piece of gear.

Next level blanket
Another must have product from Snugpak. I’ve owned several “ranger blankets“ or poncho liners over the years and still love them to this day. The jungle blanket is the next level blanket. It’s built to last, warm as heck and light as a feather. It will be on every adventure I go on from now on. My only complaint with the jungle blanket is trying to fit it back in the stuff sack. It’s not impossible, just an annoyance in the field. Snugpak seams to do this often with their gear. I would suggest using another roomier stuff sack or be prepared to swear at it for half an hour in the early hours.
