Fantastic quality mailbox. It’s very sturdy with a magnetic closure for the flap. Comes with 3 extra keys. More keys can be ordered from the company. Know that this mailbox is very heavy and you should use all the included screws and anchor bolts. Please also know that padded envelopes may or may not fit inside the mailbox slot, depending upon the size and thickness of the padded envelope and the willingness of your mailman to shove it through the slot. (Excuse the language, I can’t think of a clearer way to phrase that.)

Great mailbox for our 2 unit building in San Francisco. We had mail stolen out of a locked box at least three separate times, and it took a long time to find something better. This mailbox is sturdy and well made, with features that make it much harder to break into or destroy. We’ve had it for more than 2 years and have had no problems. Make sure to register the mailbox and key. We had to get an extra and the process was seamless. Good mail capacity, though doesn’t hold most packages we order. Installation was reasonable—best done by two people and a power drill, but one person can also do it.

I looked for a high-quality mailbox for a long time. I decided on the Mail Boss Metro and I could not be happier. The mailbox was well-packed and definitely looks and feels well-made. The bronze color is a rich, dark brown with a light bronze glow. The color reminds me of how my copper gutters look after they have naturally tarnished over the years. The mailbox probably holds 4-6 days worth of mail, depending on how much daily mail you get. It is easy to install if you know how to use a cordless drill (and you should.) The mailbox comes with everything you need to install into wood, but it does not have what you need to install into brick or concrete. I spent about $2.25 on five Tapcon concrete screws (made for installing into masonry.) Then, I got out my 5/32" masonry drill bit which is 3-1/2" long (if you don't have one, they cost around $6.00.) Pro tip: Just use a concrete drill bit that matches the same sized concrete screws that you buy. The directions included in the box are very easy to follow and are in English and also in French. After measuring and marking where I wanted to drill, I used my cordless drill to hang the hanging bracket on the brick wall. After that was secure, I was able to hang the mailbox and mark the hole(s) and then remove the mailbox to drill the hole(s). (There are 3 holes inside the 18 lbs. mailbox to screw to the wall. I only used the center hole because, honestly, it's overkill with 3 holes. So, I ended up only using 3 Tapcon screws, not 5.) As many people have said in their review, the mailbox does not hang flat against the wall because there is a hanging bracket on the back of the mailbox. The reason they put the bracket on the back is so this can remain a one-person installation. If there was no bracket, this would be a two-person job. Anyhow, the small gap at the back of the box (space between the box and the brick wall) is unnoticable once the mailbox is securely hung. I didn't bother with the attachable red flag or use the house numbers (included in the packaging.) I think this is a great product and I highly recommend!

This mail box is solid, worth the price and can be installed by one person since you mount a small handle - shaped bracket first. Watch the video and use a level. I bought WHITE to match my door. Choose your color carefully. Do you match the door or the wall ? It does not come with the black rubber protective cover at 0:38 that will prevent the high security anti pick lock from freezing if water gets in it. An accessory they should of kept in the package if not mounting on a wall under a porch. The mail slot opening is 1.63 inches high by 14.5 inches wide according to their specs. The drop opening behind this slot is 3 5/8 inches deep. When the customer door is open it could fit 5 inches thickness of mail if you plan on going away for a few days. For outgoing mail the box can handle 3/4 inches thickness of mail behind the carrier door. Since this box will not accommodate many small packages and spurs I purchased the matching color Mail Boss 7113 newspaper holder. Again solid and worth the price. I mounted mine directly under the mail box. You can use the bracket too if you rotate it 90 degrees to mount both on a wall instead of a 4x4 post. The holes of both line up for the 4 screws and nylon nuts if you turn the newspaper holder upside down. I was surprised to see I could fit an entire 12 pack case of soda into it with no overhang with room to spare. This will accommodate those spurs and small packages, sales flyers, flats, tube packages etc. My major gripe is the width of the box. It is only 15 1/4 inches wide. You can hit one but will not hit two 16 inch centered studs to mount it securely unless you find a cripple stud. You have to make a 3/4 inch thick plywood backing plate that extends outside the width of the mail box by 1 1/8 inch on each side. (16 inch center to center of the studs plus 3/4 inch to the outside of the left stud to 3/4 inch to the outside of the right stud comes to 17 1/2 inch wide backing plate. 17 1/2 minus 15 1/4 equals 2 1/4, which leaves 1 1/8 inches of wood on each side of the box). Now, how many home owners have the tools to cut a backing plate let alone have the plywood? Cutting a 4x8 sheet of plywood just for your backing plate would be an expensive option. Then you will probably want to paint it to match the siding or the mail box. Also your mounting hardware will be exposed because it still will be outside the width of the box if you want to hit the 16 inch centers. Why didn't they just make the mail box 17 1/2 inches wide with optional pre-drilled holes 3/4 inch from the sides and charge more for the metal rather than the homeowner going thru this ordeal ? Definitely keep the hanging bracket too for easy one person installation. Most mail flags are horizontal ( down)when the homeowner has no mail for the carrier and vertical (up) when there is outgoing mail. I tried mounting the enclosed flag vertically and the red plastic piece kept falling down inside its jacket. I solved that problem by pulling the red plastic piece all the way out and taping a nickel onto it where there is a contour just made for it. That extra thickness keeps the red flag up. My mail carrier loves the new box. No more jamming or cutting his fingers to get the mail in the old style thin gauge mail box. The magnetic door latches are a great feature. The door hinges should last a very long time. All said I still rate this a 5 star mail box. I installed a mail box alert sensor on the door too. No more wasted trips to the mail box. I know when I have mail.
