Nice travel set
This is a lovely compact watercolor set that has everything I need to create artwork when I travel. The paints are of very good quality. Most travel sets just have a few colors but this set has quite a nice assortment. It also includes a color guide on the back of the box that gives you a good idea of the properties of each color in the set.The case itself has several mixing areas and you have some blank sheets to fill in for your own color guide. The included sketchbook is small but has nice quality paper and opens up easily.I like this for myself but this would make a great gift for a beginning artist as well.

They’re okay. You can paint with them.
So I used these paints a few times. I did some swatches, painted two paintings on the paper from the little journal it comes with and one painting on some cotton watercolor paper. I’m not a huge fan of these. They’re not horrible but they were difficult to paint with some of the times whether it was the odd color choices they gave with some of the paints or trying to mix some of the colors or the way the paints dried really fast in the tin and on paper. The overall set is nice as it comes in a tin and has a really nice brush that goes with it. The tin also took the paint really well as it didn’t bead up like it usually does with new palettes. Most of the colors given were great and most are all fairly vibrant! However, some of the color choices were odd to me. The dark red has the strangest pink under tone to it. On its own it’s a really pretty color but that pink makes it very difficult to mix with other colors. I liked the options of greens as I like to use a starter green and mix it from there. The white seemed pretty strong and opaque but I didn’t use that aside from swatching it. The paints were slightly difficult to work with but overall they did okay. The paper from the journal is fine. I don’t think it is cotton but that’s not a big deal to me. I was able to get some good paintings done on the paper. I sometimes needed to add several layers to the paintings to get the paint to be bold and vibrant since some of them were lacking in that while other were very vibrant! To be fair, I use mostly professional paints so I am a bit of a snob when it comes to painting supplies. If you’re looking for something to travel with, this would be perfect as it is small, comes with plenty of colors, a really good brush, and a journal so you’d have everything you need! I wouldn’t recommend it for novice beginners though because it might be hard to work with if you have no idea what you’re doing. I do think it’s a bit pricey for what the paint quality is but the brush and journal are probably a big factor in that. I wouldn’t purchase these paints again. The brush and the journal however, yes, I would buy those again.

Beautiful Colors - but hard preparation
The only thing I disliked about this paint set was the time it took to unwrap each cube of paint. They were each wrapped in plastic and I had to remove each cube from the tray, slit the plastic with a knife, and then use tweezer to pull off the plastic (which didn't come off easily). It took me 23 minutes to do this.I tried to keep the paints in the correct order since there was a handy guid on the box (which I did not want to keep). I messed up the order, but didn't realize it until after I painted the swatch chart (I got the Payne's Gray after the Black). I'm leaving the set like that since that's the way my hand painted color chart turned out.I cut the chart off of the box and taped it to the outside of the paint set since it's a great guide for the lightfastness of each color, the transparency, and if the color stains or not. The brush is ok, better than some brushes that come with inexpensive sets of paints. For the price you get a lot of colors as well as a small sketchbook. The sketchbook paper is thick (as advertised) and doesn't bleed through to the other side. The pages are also perforated so they can easily be taken out of the sketchbook and dry without bleeding onto another page. The case which the paints are in has several mixing wells as well as a wire loop on the bottom, which allows you to hold the case with your thumb through the ring as if you were holding a paint pallette.Although I do a lot of art, watercolor is not a medium I've used very much so I am excited to play with this set and see where that leads me, possibly into my next artistic adventure!
