Q: Is it 450lb per hinge or pair?

It looks like a pair, I used two on my swinging gate, its 10' section all steel and it has 0 issues holding it. But I do not think 1 will hold 450lbs.

Q: has anyone used these hinges on a 12-16' square tubing iron gate?

Sorry our gate was quite a bit smaller, 6 feet tall by 4 1/4-1/2 feet wide. But I’ve had multiple kids stand on it at one and no problems. Good luck!

Q: Can these hinges slide apart to remove the trailer gate after they are welded on? Or are they permanently joined?

Yes, depending how you weld them on. They come apart when shipped. You will see a steel ball bearing and that is what the pinned side of the hinge rides on. There is a nipple that is for applying grease to keep things smooth.

Q: Will these open 90 degrees if one side is welded to the center of a 6” post and the other to the gate which is 2”?

I used them for the gate on my utility trailer. They allow from vertical to ground movement which is greater than 90 degrees in my installation.
