We've been using the kettle for a few weeks now. Works well, boils quickly, and is entirely plastic free inside. I researched kettles that were plastic free (where the water boils, most have some plastic on the handles) and this was the best value for money that I could find. It looks good, too. Some "plastic free" kettles actually have plastic in the filters, lids, or other parts internally.

Let me tell you all about this great little kettle and share a little-known fact about electricity which makes it even better and safer than you think, especially if you have a small kitchen. First off, this is a totally plastic-free kettle on the inside. If you're like me, you heard about how dangerous plastic kettles were and then couldn't believe how hard it was to find one that is free of plastic. There are many that look great until you open the lid...and it's made of plastic. Or, you look around the base of the kettle inside...and it's lined with plastic. This kettle is 100% plastic-free on the inside and the only plastic at all is the handle (I think it's plastic, certainly not metal) and the ring on the top that you pull to open the lid. That ring is actually metal but, as you'll see in my video, it can be changed for a plastic one which doesn't suffer the same problem of getting quite hot after the kettle has boiled. Some people have said that it leaks from the bottom and the manual explains how this can be caused by several things. Firstly, it's just if you've overfilled it in which case the overfill holes remove any excess water. That's how it's designed and it's not a fault. Secondly, it's if you have bashed the steam pipe inside the kettle. If you knock it at all by cleaning too rigorously then water will leak and this can't be repaired. Thirdly, it's when you have damaged the steam pipe by overfilling the kettle and then boiling it. So long as you don't overfill it or go bashing the pipe inside then you'll have no problems with leaks. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I think this kettle looks cute. It's not the kind of look I'd normally go for and ideally wanted a glass one but being plastic-free and making good-tasting drinks is more important. I didn't buy this kettle to sit looking at it. Talking of taste, drinks taste great from this kettle which is probably due to it not having any plastic parts inside. Tea and hot chocolate both taste punchier and cleaner than before, certainly much better than when the water is boiled in a pan on a hob. It takes around 30 seconds to boil enough water for one cup of tea and around 90 seconds to boil enough water for two cups. This is perfectly fast enough for me and this brings me on to the point about electricity that many people are unaware of and can be dangerous. The maximum amount of electricity you must ever draw from a UK plug is 3000 watts. If you have a 3000-watt kettle plugged into an adaptor which also runs a fridge, a toaster or anything else, you will be overloading the socket if anything is running at the same time as the 3000-watt kettle. This can result in serious damage to your electrics and even fire. I have a tiny kitchen so I have to use a kettle plugged into an adaptor because there simply aren't enough sockets for it to have its own. Despite this kettle saying it has 3000-watt fast-boiling in some of the images, at the time I bought it, it isn't 3000 watts. It says 2200 watts in the description and 1850-2200 watts on the base of the kettle. Because this kettle uses less energy at one time than some do, it's far safer if you need to have something else plugged into the same socket. This may not be an issue for many of you but with more and more people living in smaller homes and shared accommodation, this could be an important, even a life-saving, point. There are a few little things about this kettle that could be improved but they're not big issues for me. It is hard to tell how much water is in the kettle because there is no real indicator inside at all other than the MAX level. It does say there's a minimum level indicator but I can't see it. I also wish kettle manufacturers would have it so the kettle is off when the switch is down and on when it's up. That way, if the switch does fail then it would fail by falling into the off position and not the on position. That might be very unlikely and it does have boil-dry protection but just something I thought of. What might be a downside for some is that it is a basic kettle. It doesn't come with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth so you can't run it from an app on your phone. It isn't going to give you a digital readout of the temperature of the water, show you how much water is inside, let you know how it's feeling or show you the exact times you have turned it on throughout history. I love this kettle and look forward to enjoying many lovely hot drinks from it. The kettle itself was amazingly just what I'd been looking for. Sadly it leaked badly from the base of the kettle, below the spout. Very happy to say Amazon are going to give me my money back and I'm very grateful to be receiving it. A real shame as I really loved the look of the kettle

I like this kettle. It produces next to no steam when in use, and seems to boil fairly quickly. Importantly, it’s of steel construction, something I was looking for as I don’t want plastic parts (and the potential toxins they might leach) coming into contact with drinking water. There are some minor downsides - firstly, the lid can be hard to remove once the kettle has boiled if you need to refill it. You have to use some force to pull it from the main kettle, and when it does pop off, it can splash steam that has collected on the underside of the lid. The lid is, perhaps obviously, very hot to the touch. Secondly, the body of the kettle looks slightly ‘dirty’. It has a grain appearance in the metal which looks a bit grubby. Perhaps a polish with something would improve this. Overall, I’m happy with the kettle, the two points I have mentioned are minor to me. The best thing is the lack of steam it produces. I’d recommend this kettle.

Love this kettle! It’s super stylish, looks so good in my kitchen. It boils quickly and fairly quietly. I was worried it would be annoying having to pull the lid off to fill it rather than a hinge lid but actually it makes it easier as you can then aim the water straight in without having to hold a lid open. I’ve had this kettle for nearly 3 years now and it still looks like new, unlike stainless steel kettles that get drip marks or discolour.

Best kettle I have ever owned ! Safe and does a great job. I’ve got used to know what water it needs by the weight and I fill it using the spout rather than touching the lid. So handy. The lid gets hot after the boil so watch the hands, do what we do and fill back up using the spout rather than remove the lid. Great stylish kettle and no plastic in your water

The Ascot Kettle is solid & very well made, as it's all metal construction is unbreakable, & even the water filter is metal too!! which is easy push out through the kettle spout for cleaning if you live in a hard water area like the South East of England & the kettle is a rapid boiling one too!!, the kettle can be filled through the spout or through the removable lid, which comes with 2 knobs an metal one already fitted & a soft touch knob as the metal knob does get very hot!! when you remove the lid for refilling the kettle, the kettle comes with full instructions on how to change the kettle lid knob if you need to. So if your looking for a solid & certainly heavy duty kettle then the Ascot kettle is the one for you!!

We were specifically looking for an all-steel kettle, with no plastic, as we wanted something healthier for boiling water, and this one delivers on that front. As a tea lover, especially during winter when my family drinks hot and warm water all day, this kettle has become a staple in our home. We use it at least five times a day, and it's quickly become the most used appliance in the kitchen. The quality is excellent — it's durable, easy to use, and heats water quickly. For the price, it’s an outstanding value. I’m really impressed with how well it holds up and how simple it is to operate. I wrote a review early on but never submitted it. Now that the thing won't operate, the words below aren't worth a thing... Basically the connection is probably gunked up with minerals . Worked well for 15 months. I love this kettle. It's the third one since my old one died a slow death, and 3rd time is the charm. On/Off. Simple. Retro looking in red. Heats well. Pours great. I had tried a white European one that looked great on the counter, but I wasn't happy with how it sputtered and poured too much too quickly, so I sent it back. It wasn't a bargain, either. Then I got a beautiful glass model with all the bells and whistles of different temperatures and keep warm settings, but after a few weeks, it died quickly when something fell out of the cabinet above and broke the thing. This one is well priced and heats up about the same as the others. Just beware of the separate lid, the metal handle of which gets burning hot - In most cases, it's not necessary to touch it anyway unless you are filling up the carafe with cold water. For safety reasons, I guess, a replacement plastic handle is included, but the original is on so tightly that I just left it alone. Very happy with this purchase. I hope it has a long healthy life. UPDATE of course is that its on/off lever died after 15 monthsif daily use.

My kettle is wonderful! So cute in our cozy and hears water very quickly. The customer service for the company is excellent - they were quick to respond when I emailed that my kettle had stopped working after 1 year and sent me a new one right away!
