I feel the need to write a review for this product because I think that there are some negative reviews being written by people who don't understand how to use this device properly. In order to connect this device, you need to READ THE DIRECTIONS that come in the box, which clearly state that you need to download the app and then USE THE APP to connect the device to your WIFI. This is not a bluetooth device. Don't try to connect it via bluetooth because it's not going to work. I had my outlet connected in minutes by following the directions and the Alexa app found the outlet immediately. It worked so well that I ordered more. I use these in my office and currently to control our Christmas tree. It strikes a nerve in me when reviewers leave negative reviews for issues that are clearly user error.

Spent hours trying to connect the smart plug to Amazon Echo Dot with Alexa but it wouldn't connect. I then discovered I had to go to charter.guestinternet.com to enable a wifi device, but I couldn't find the MAC address or Hardware Address for the Smart Plug.To find the MAC address:Enable a personal hotspot on a divide that is NOT YOUR PHONE. Connect to the hotspot on your phone with the Smart Things app and then add the device through the hotspot. When the Smart Plug is added, go to the settings and info page for the smart plug and find the MAC address and save it. Remove the device from the app and then connect your phone to the wifi you would use in the college dorm or apartment. You NO LONGER need the hotspot.Go to the website, such as charter.guestinternet.com , where you would enter the MAC address and save the Smart Plug device on there. Then go to the Smart Things app and enable the device using AP Mode. This should work and enable to Smart Plug to work with Alexa or the app with the new wifi.

I tried for several hours to get the device to connect to my WiFi & couldn’t do it. I went to re-read Amazon reviews thinking maybe I might get help from there & I came across one scary negative review that created some paranoia for me. Something about the App that’s required to be downloaded & that App causing exposure of financial info? Probably not a credible review but that review does concern me. It's amazing! It's cool! I wanted to buy a traditional electrical timer then found this one on the Amazon. Pretty good price, actually a pretty high price/value product. I can now setup the timer using smartphone app, set an automatic on/off schedule of my electrical device, and even turn on/off immediately something through the APP without touching the device, that means I can even turn on/off the lighthouse remotely. I hate to power on/off my monitor screen everyday and also know it's harmful to keep my laptop plug in all the time, now I can set up it's on/off time using the little device. Cool!] and useful!By the way, I also had problem to add the device in easy mode, then switched to "Add Devices in AP mode" following the procedures of the user manual and it was so easily done. Love the product!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  This was difficult to set up, but WORTH the persistence. Now my greenhouse lights and heaters are on a schedule and can be remotely activated or turned off.Very useful!

My husband and I each spent hours trying to connect this thing to Bluetooth and despite following the directions exactly as written and the steps in the app, we would wait and wait and continuously get an error message that it didn’t connect. For $13 I expected this to be easy and convenient but it was the exact opposite! Extremely frustrated and like many other reviewers wrote- not worth the shipping to send back. Ridiculous! Just spend the extra $10 and get the Amazon plugs! Really regretting this purchase.

I bought one plug to use on a grow light. Liked it so much that I purchased two more for use around the house for various lighting. I scanned the code on the box with the first one and the app came through right away. The steps to set up the plug and its schedule were extremely east to follow. When I purchased the next two plugs, it was again very simple to add them to the app on my phone. You can add a photo and specify a name for each plug which makes using them even easier. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

I'm impressed with this smart-plug. I wanted one for use in my garage to control a fan that was behind a piece of exercise equipment and hard to reach to turn on and off.The brand that I normally buy is twice the price and twice the size so I wanted to try something smaller and cheaper. So far, I'm very pleased with this. It's nice and compact and it hasn't had any trouble keeping connected to the WiFi that is coming from inside the house.Setup was painless. It's important to pay attention and actually read the screens. The first time, I didn't notice where I needed to type in the WiFI password so I had to start over. After initial setup, it gave me a choice to go ahead and connect to Google Home (or Alexa). SUPER EASY. A couple of clicks later and I was all done and using voice commands.Documentation is good (though, printed VERY small to fit in the compact packaging). I really only needed it to find the right app and get the process started.Definitely a brand and model I will consider buying again.

Easy to set up, sleek and cool design, I just wish it was a little bit smaller so that you could fit two to one wall plug. Easily solved by grabbing a power bar or cube tap, but still. Since it's sold in packs of 4 as well, why not just manufacture it to fit two to one plug?Just a picky opinion, but still definitely worth the buy. App was easy to set up and connect to my Alexa, and it works like a charm.
