Product description CD: Babyface,A Collection Of His Greatest Hits .co.uk Dubbed "Babyface" by bass legend Bootsy Collins, Kenneth Edmonds has always kept good company. By his own admission a writer and producer first, an artist last, Babyface's greatest success has come from discovering the likes of TLC and Toni Braxton, and penning and producing hits for Whitney Houston, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Bobby Brown and Michael Jackson. The Hits referred to here, however, cover those from his four solo albums--but, capable and sensuous as his dulcet tones are on the silky smooth ballads reminiscent of "End Of The Road" (which he wrote for Boyz II Men), the standout tracks are still those featuring more recognisable voices. "This Is For The Lover In You", a dirty groove augmented by Jody Watley's soulful strains and LL Cool J's lustful rhymes, is the finest example of Edmond's romantic soul, with a live version of Eric Clapton duet "Change The World" and the sociological lament "How Come, How Long", blessed with Stevie Wonder's spine-tingling vocals and harmonica, coming close seconds. Of his truly solo efforts, the late-night r&b of "For The Cool In You" and 1980s dance-floor-funk of "It's No Crime" (which could have been written for Bobby Brown) are rare hints to what one does when not smooching or masquerading as a sentimental new man. --Dan Gennoe

Greatest Hits!!
I grew up listening to BF. We had a few of his songs on a cassette tape, (which we had taped when the songs were being played on the radio, before we knew about CD's). We used to play the cassette over and over again when cleaning the house, (our rooms) on Saturdays OR Sundays when we had come back from church, because we were not allowed to do it during week days after school. BF is one of the most talented musicians/producers/song writers there is. I might sound biased because I love his work but this is one CD that I recommend to anyone & should not be missing in anyone's collection who knows good music.

Top songwriter sings
Babyface (né Kenneth Edmonds) career as a singer was never quite as big as some names he wrote songs for, but he still managed to keep some great songs for himself. This compilation covers some 12 years and includes his greatest (charting) moments including the acoustic ballad "When Can I See You Again", the smooth croon of "Every Time I Close My Eyes" featuring Mariah Carey and R&B jams such as "Whip Appeal". The Face's songcraft is on full display and offers a real soundtrack to the end of century.

I've always been a fan. His music is great. Lyric's wonderful. Arrangements tight. A good album with great awesome tunes.

Worth listening to
I think some of the tracks have dated a little but there remains something quite special about them. Bought album mainly for 'Too Gone Too Long' as this is an amazing song and takes me back to the day. Not sure the other tracks are as memorable, but there are a few that are growing on me. His voice is so smooth and a joy to listen to, I think I prefer the upbeat tunes whereas this album is quite slow and melodic.
