Works as advertised
Was recently gifted a Canon 50D SLR (about 12 years old): serviceable, but not entirely up to date in terms of functions. Having long ago ditched my collection of Compact Flash cards in favour of SD cards in their various generational guises, I didn't have cards suitable for this camera and to avoid starting another collection of CF cards (particularly as they tend to be more expensive and less commonly available that equivalent SD ones) I opted to get an adapter that would allow me to use my current SD cards in the Canon 50D and - having checked the camera specs online - I bought this one. This adapter is based on a Type 2 CF card: that is, it's about 5.5mm thick (unlike a Type 1 CF card, which is about 3mm thick). Generally, a camera with a Type 2 slot can also accept the thinner Type 1 card, but a camera with a Type 1 slot will not be able to make use of the thicker Type 2 card: so check your camera manual, folks! In the hand it's a piece of rigid plastic with very little give in it with a profile that mimics Type 2 CF cards. Inserting it into the slot in the camera is easy (it should just slide in; if it doesn't either the slot is too small or the profile on the slot hasn't engaged the card's profile correctly), and it responds to the press of the pusher lever with an expected slight momentary resistance as it disengages from the CF pins in the slot. The SD card is inserted into a slot along one of the shorter sides. It will only go in one way (check the logo on the adapter), and will 'click' into place after being full inserted: to remove it push it back in again and it will 'click' and disengage and pop out slightly to allow you to remove it. As the slot is in the short side of the CF card you will have to remove the adapter from the camera's card slot to access the SD card itself, otherwise when slotted in the camera the SD card is not accessible (well, on the 50D anyway). The adapter is advertised as being capable of supporting SD, SDHC and SDXC cards. I can vouch for its functionality with SD and SDHC cards, but not the SDXC. However, this is largely because the Canon 50D has a 32GB memory limit (and anything above this enters the SDXC territory): out of curiosity, I installed a 64GB SDXC card into the adapter and popped it into the camera and turned it on. The Canon 50D told me it didn't recognize the card, but I don't know if there's a firmware update for the camera that gets around this: to be honest it's unlikely I'll need to worry about it, as 32GB is plenty of space for my intended use of the camera, and swapping cards shouldn't be a real hardship. I can't vouch for its durability or longevity, but for the price it commands it has allowed be to make use of my current stock of SD cards without having to fork out far more for a new set of CF cards.

NOT Compatible with Nikon D200.
This item does not fit into the Nikon D200. It was returned to the seller and a full refund has been received. Obviously a disappointment & I can't proffer a review as to it's performance, for the above reasons. For a similar cost a new, fully compatible CF card can be purchased .. I'd suggest that route instead as the problem free option for any Nikon users.

Perfect for your 5D mark ii
As other reviews, the fit is slightly too tight but it gets better with time. It works well and with longer time of shooting.

A good quality adapter with a few caveats
Had other CF card adapters, and this is certainly a very good option. Well built, feels better in the hand than other options I’ve tried. Used with a Canon 5Dii the fit was surprisingly easy on my body, with no issues of use. On my 5D Classic, the fit was extremely tight. One thing to note is the adapter does not have a lip on it, like most CF cards. So if the fit is tight, then trying to remove the card is extremely difficult. The other caveat to a lack of lip is not knowingly the orientation of the card adapter when fitting fit in the dark for example. As a gig and event photographer, little details like a lip give tactile feedback for easier operation in rushed situations. One nice feature is the spring loaded action of the SD card into the chamber on the adapter, which I thought was a nice touch. So far so good, but only time will tell if it will last.

Excellent alternative to big brand expensive cards
Bought these adaptors to experiment. I wanted to find out which, if any, would be better between these with SDcards inserted or a big brand 64GB proper cards (a pair of LEXAR 64GB 1066's) In use I haven't noticed anything to write home about whatsoever and they perform admirably loaded up with either Samsung pro SDs or SanDisk UHS SDs and seem the same when used in burst and continual burst modes as well as standard single shot mode although I haven't used any timers or frame counting equipment and so is not a mathematically precise scientific test replete with analytical FFT graphs and .pdf's etc. So when you consider the difference in price when up in the larger card sizes then these really are a no-brainer for me. Plus by using SDcards you have a much wider range of sizes, brands and speeds to suit your needs and pocket. Shop wisely and enjoy !

AVOID ! may kill your camera.
I SO wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing. Far too thick to fit in Canon CF card slot. Will be returning it and so very glad I didn't try to force it in as I suspect, as others have found, it will kill the camera. AVOID !!!!

Does not fit Nikon D200
Product came quickly and looked just the job, but does not fit the Nikon D200. The slot in the D200 is slimmer than this card so of no use to me.

Este adaptador es lo mejor que han hecho. Funciona perfectamente y no falla. Se le puede dar uso a todas las tarjetas SD con la ventaja de poderla meter directamente en el ordenador. Tambien podría utilizar una tarjeta con wifi para poder compartir directamente. Buena calidad.
