The other thing is this very design is for concealment- you don't want a great big 2 inch fastex buckle that would be visible under a T-shirt or similar clothing. The reason it looks flimsy is because it is flat- much flatter than an ordinary fastex buckle. I have one and I don't find it to be, or anticipate it to be less than up to the task. **Q: Can you tell if the zippers are detectable with a metal detector?
