Purchased a gel cover for the saddle at the same time and neither were enough on their own but together have made a huge improvement.I purchased the Large size and they are overall a good fit - I generally purchase size 14 for 39 inch hips.I've bought two other different cycling shorts since and neither are as good as these. One pair because there was as good as no padding except for two spots too far back on the bottom, second pair because I ordered XL and received XXL which was just far too big for me.Update - washed and worn multiple times now and still comfortable. Much less tight fitting than recently purchased L size Foxter cycling shorts which are very snug fitting especially the grip on thighs.
