100 Kamado Grill & Smoker Temperature Controller

I've never written a review before, but wanted to take the time to say that the Flame Boss IS the BOSS! I enjoyed grilling before, but now I'm grilling almost every day. This is cruise control for the grill. I have a large Kamado Joe. The setup I use 95% of the time is low and slow with a heat shield in place. Smoked bacon wrapped shrimp the other day. Cooked bacon for ~10 minutes in oven, then wrapped the shrimp. Dipped in Teriaki sauce, smoked at 225 for about 11 minutes. FABULOUS!!! Grilling chicken and veggies for grilled tortilla soup right now. Love the smoke flavor in the soup. Flame Boss makes this almost as easy as just turning on the stove. No need to continually monitor grill or meat temp.

I will begin this by saying - this thing works. I bought it to use with my Akorn. I used it for my first ever attempt at a brisket. If you are from Texas, the result was similar to Rudy’s lean - mainly because I used a small 4lb choice flat as the tester. The Flame Boss 100 is simple to use and it does exactly what they say it will. I began with a test burn overnight using about 5lbs of mesquite charcoal. 14hrs after it reached the desired temperature of 230°, I looked inside & noticed there was plenty of fuel left, so I threw in some soaked wood chips & put the tester flat on. 10hrs later - I was eating & the fire was still going. The idea of “cruise control” for your smoker is spot on. I gave this 4 stars because my one complaint is that the adapter plate for the Akorn isn’t quite the right size. I would prefer a tighter fit to the air intake & a tighter fit from the blower to the adapter plate. That little plate fit issue lessens the overall quality & makes the whole thing feel a little cheap - like it might wobble loose... but it didn’t - it sat there & moved air. Again, despite the low quality tolerances - the little bbq robot does a phenomenal job of keeping temps +/- 3° of target. Most of the time was spent within +/- 1° of the target temp, though the smoking stone also helped. For $150 this was a solid purchase to enter into smoking. My first result was fairly good. With the Flame Boss, my next brisket will be great.

I bought this as a gift for my husband a couple of months ago. He finally used it last weekend to smoke some ribs and was amazed at how well it controlled the temperature on his Kamado cooker. It was easy to set up, and worked exactly as it was supposed to. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.

We have had to replace 3 times now, poor quality at a very high price. I'm extremely disappointed in this product, when it works it is fantastic, but it works 2-3 times and needs replacing. This item probably costs $10 to make, cheap, cheap, cheap construction

I don't know why I went this long without one. One of the best products I have ever used. Works as advertised
