A sweeping epic saga!
Three books in one set. Book 1. The Tainted Crown. 2. The Brooding Crown. 3. The Shattered Crown. A magnificent sweeping story! Dragons, men and elvenkind must put aside their differences and waring against each other and work together to defeat an ancient evil that is stirring in the land because if they don't, their land and every living thing in it will be destroyed. An alliance between the three races has faded through the last thousand years. A young Prince dealing with court intrigue and betrayal must find a way to rebuild that alliance in order to defeat an ancient elemental determined to destroy the land and all living things. This is an extremely well written and imaginative story. I especially enjoyed the character development and growth through the three books. I loved the conflict between the dragon clans and the conflict between the groups of humans. A story of intrigue and betrayal, power struggles, battles, love and loss. In all I found myself really caring for the characters. This is a trilogy you will devour page by page. I give this trilogy the highest of recommendations. You will not be disappointed!

Not epic or exciting
There was nothing epic or really very exciting about this book (trilogy). I dearly wanted to give up after finishing the first book, but forced myself to finish the trilogy. With all the 5 star reviews stating this was so epic and well written, it really made me question if I was reading the same books. There was no depth to any characters and so many missed chances to make any character relatable or even likable. I hope the author continues to write and improve and maybe down the road there will be books worth praising, but this trilogy certainly isn't it.

Very much worth the 99 cents I paid
I gave the trilogy 4-stars strictly due to the unique story line. I'll cover the "not-so-good" stuff first, followed by what prompted me to give it 4-stars.The Not-So Good:Major Issues: The author treats the reader as unintelligent by explaining "EVERYTHING"! Too many things of little-to-no significance and over-explaining a whole lot more. Another words, a lot of unnecessary writing that slowed or stopped the action dead. To worsen things, the author follows some long winded (and some pointless) narrations with character conversations re-hashing what was just explained. Eventually I found myself scanning or bypassing a lot of this "extra-curricular wordiness".Minor Issues: There's a side story or two that lend nothing to the overall story that would have been better served with, I must say begrudgingly, a narration LOL. There are some contradictions within the story, some things that shouldn't happen or be possible based on earlier explanations/narrations. The author does a weak job explaining some battle situations; things that make no sense and some that are clearly manipulated for the story line. Distances traveled, passage of time, weather, and sustenance issues are also found throughout the trilogy. Some characters are poorly described/defined while others are done well. The Good: The overall story line is excellent. I enjoyed it very much. I found the story line to be refreshingly different from other adventure fantasies. The way different races/beings relied on each other through historical bonds to defeat the growing threat while having to deal with their own internal strife, prejudices, and more. There is no one hero who does it all. The action (minus the narrations) is quick-paced and draws you in.I recommend reading this trilogy: I recommend reading this trilogy especially for the price. It is well worth it. The only caution I have would be introducing this book as a "starter" book for a new reader "only" because of the narrations.

Free or 99 cents, just not worth the effort....
Amazed there were so many 4 and 5 star reviews...I honestly could only manage to read 3 percent of this over rated trilogy. I was excited and enticed by the promise of Dragons, Elfin creatures and the mystical creatures of lore...But I was immediately put off by one of the lead characters DRINKING ICED TEA!!!! Seriously a huge "what in the world was the author thinking" moment...and the editor allowed it????...I choked on that phrase but I am so over books that are so poorly written. I am an avid reader and I try to give the author a chance...I generally hang on, continue to read, in the hopes the next page will miraculously get better. Not this time...and not with this author. I have read some freebies that are great and even passable....but on this trilogy I simply will pass.

Writing by numbers and not by quality
I bought this on a whim as in the past, I've done so with similar books and been pleasantly surprised. In the case of this book, I wasn't.This book can be summed up in 5 words:Cliche'dClunkyFull of itselfIt attempts to put the epic in epic fantasy but all of the characters are one dimensional. The plot is ridiculously predictable. I got about 15% of the way through this trilogy before I could no longer punish myself with it and had to stop reading. Not recommended

Treason, Rebellion & Magical Mayhem
The main characters are nicely crafted as the story proceeds giving them a well rounded personality. The plot of some of the events seemed a little to simplistic on first reading, but then not everything has to be complicated to to work. The Dragons and the Elderkind were well fleshed out, though how and when the Elderkind and Eve used their magic didn’t seem logical at times.Overall this was an engaging and entertaining read straight from the start. Well written and worth reading if you enjoy fantasy novels.

OK for young readers.
Quite formal and to me childlike in some of its prose and form. I think it is a young adults book, anyone who has read a few fantasy books may like the simple approach and storyline, but someone who likes a more gritty and adult approach would quickly tire of the innocent characters who really do not exude any great emotions within the reader. A pity because the story is OK.

Confusing at times but a great read!
There are an awful lot of names to keep track of. Don't let this put you off however as the story is deeply absorbing and ultimately most gratifying. There are many twists and turns in the plot which has everything from love stories to genocide via compassion and sadistic cruelty.Filled with mythical creatures that morph into utterly believable characters.Fans of Tolkein will love it.

Nice read
A lovely trilogy of books.. easy to read although sometimes you want to slap the main characters.. but if you were in their place would you have acted in the same manner. I would recommend these books to anyone who loves good fantasy reads
