Nice look
It takes more than you think to cover an area but I think they look better than plain lava rock plus they are super lightweight so they don't add a lot of weight to the fireplace

Heat Radiates Instead of Disappearing Up Chimney
These ceramic fireballs made a difference in our peak-a-boo fireplace (fireplace open on both sides). Stacking these along the gas outlets made the flames more even across and all the fireplace balls heated evenly. We also are able to keep the flame lower while producing better heat. They look nice and all the balls were evenly shaped without defects. We’ve tried firelogs, fireglass, and sand, and these on top of fireplace sand is the best option we’ve found for even flames and heat. Definitely recommend!*** Helpful? I rely on customer reviews for all my online purchases, so I hope so! ***

looks good but definitely not enough
I figure this was twice as many stones as the competitors for 50% more expensive. It still isn't enough. I'm just using this to fill a small portable fire pit and even with 48 stones, it's just a bit over 1 layer which barely cover the burners. That's a bit disappointing considering how expensive these are. I guess I can't complain as this product in general seems to be pricier than regular stone. I'm just glad it's dust free. Having a portable fire pit means lugging it around and changing orientations when moving and setting up. That means the delicate lava rocks keep colliding and generating more and more dust. It's a pain in the butt to take out as your hands are all dusty by the end of it. This is a good solution as the rocks are more durable and are dust free. They look pretty real and with the variety, I can't tell that they are duplicated and fake.Rather than buying another set of these stones to fill the fire pit and to make it look more full, I decided to simply cut out some rockwool insulation to line the base. It props up the rocks and looks a lot better.

Charcoal
They work. Lightweight feels like charcoal and is about the same size. You get what you pay for. They were inexpensive and they are cheaply made. (My opinion) Not happy with this . Would not buy again.

Work OK, But Bland Looking
These Ceramic Fiber Pebble Stones look a lot like charcoal briquettes that have been burned grey. They are very uniform in size, shape, and color, and are very light in weight.I placed these on top of the existing lava rocks in my fire pit hoping that they would help more of the fire’s heat radiate outward, but they did not improve the radiation much. After being in the fire for about a half an hour, they did start to glow red underneath, but stayed cool enough on top to accumulate a layer of black carbon ash in places, which is typical in a propane fueled fire pit.The pebbles themselves are smooth and slightly chalky from rubbing together in the bag, but none were broken when they arrived. Their smooth surface makes them look a bit unnatural to me for a product labeled as “lava rocks” in the description. What made me rate them only 4 stars is the following cryptic “Tip” on one of the pictures on the product page; “place fire pit balls around the fire to heat them before lighting a fire to prevent breakage caused by temperature differences”.Really? Are they telling us that these are temperature sensitive? If I can’t just walk out to my fire pit, turn on the gas, and have a roaring blaze in a few seconds, what good are they?
