No-Risk Pilates: 8 Techniques for a Safe Full-Body Workout Review: Excellent resource - I have several of Callais-Germaine's books and really like them all. I have practiced and taught Pilates for 20+ years, but I have found that with my older clients and clients with back injuries, the hyper-flexion exercises of Piilates are not appropriate. This book won't give you a super rigourous workout, but it will be a safe workout. Review: A great book - Excellent material, written well. Reads well. I love this book. Great reference material.

Extremely valuable
Great and important info, because Pilates can be dangerous. Every instructor should be required to read this. However , the most powerful sections are already available for free in the preview.

Proofreading before Publishing is Important!
Does anyone else notice the contradiction within the text as it refers to Retroversion vs. Anteversion of the pelvis on pages 9-10? Fortunately, I noticed this in previewing the book on Amazon before purchasing it. It first says "Leg Flexion encourages Pelvic Retroversion" and "Retroversion is the tilting of the iliac crests backward which flattens the lumbar curve" (p. 9) and then on the very next page (p. 10), it says "Flexion of the Legs/Anteversion brings the anterior surfaces of the vertebrae closer together", in other words flattening the lumbar curve. And in the next paragraph: "Extension of the Legs/Retroversion brings the posterior of the vertebrae closer together", in other words increasing the lumbar curve. Obviously, that sentence should read "Flexion of the Legs/Retroversion" instead of Anteversion and "Extension of the Legs/Anteversion" instead of Retroversion, because as it is written, it is illogical and inconsistent with the content on the page prior. Unfortunately, an error like this with regard to terminology is a serious drawback for an educational book on anatomy and kinesiology. It shows careless or lack of proofreading, which now makes me wary to purchase the book, for fear that there may be other similar errors. Since I have not actually read the book from cover to cover, I cannot give it a very fair review, so I am rating it based on what I have read so far. In other words, this 3 starts out of 5 simply reflects what I see as a very serious error in an otherwise (probably) pretty decent book.

This book is essential for every Pilates teacher and the contents should be taught in each Pilates training.Safety will be more important during each training session and Blandine Calais-Germain understands movement and safe principle behind it. She explains it thoroughly -using examples of mat exercises and reformer exercises. I highly can recommend this book.
