I tried these stickers and did not get a bite. You don't really notice the smell while wearing them. They don't stick well to synthetic / workout material clothing- best to use cotton or cotton blend clothing. It sticks well to skin even though the instructions say not to put them on your skin- but how else are my ankles supposed to be protected from bites when my (female) shorts are by my upper thigh? They only last for a few hours so you'll need a fresh set if you go out in the morning/afternoon and then at night. Verdict: I highly recommend these!
