Anxiety overload!
This series is a drug and I need my next fix. The protagonist I have a love/hate relationship with, she is such a complicated person and with some of her decisions I found myself shouting out loud at the page while reading lol, this book ended on such a cliff hanger I will be wishing my life away until July for the next installment. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT

Did not disappoint
This series is one of my favourites, I have been eagerly awaiting this 4th book in the series, and then it arrived and I found it hard to read because I was a) constantly tense about what was going to happen and b) did not want it to end. This is a dark story, with so much pain and trauma for the characters, but one of my favourite things about the series is that against the backdrop of all the crazy fae/fallen angel stuff there's a story of woman trying to come to terms with what has happened to her and how she feels about herself. The small steps she takes throughout this book feel real, they don't feel convoluted or convenient, even when it leads to Fortuna making choices that are frustrating for the reader, and I like that.I also really appreciate how the themes around accountability and forgiveness are woven into the story of so many characters. It helped gel the group together so you weren't questioning why they stuck by her when she did terrible things.I did find the first part of the book slow, starting the 4th book of a series with a bunch of new characters (bar the fmc) was jarring, but once we hit the point of familiar characters returning to the story I felt more drawn into it again. There was definitely an uptick in the romance side of this book, and I don't think I have ever read a book that is not RH where I have actually been hoping for that to be the outcome. I would very much like Fortuna to get her cake and eat it, but if I absolutely had to choose I think Laurie is my favourite - again though, I liked that Fortuna acknowledges and accepts that she has feelings for more than one person so you don't have needless angst in the form of a love triangle (or would it technically be a square here?).Which leads us to Oliver and the dreamscape. Every time we'd get to a dream I'd be disappointed we were leaving the 'awake' characters, but by the time we got back round to them I'd be disappointed we were leaving the dreamscape. I'm really looking forward to how that all comes together in the next book or two, now it's started to unravel.

Another episode in the saga of the increasingly hard to understand Fortuna Sworn
I really enjoyed the first books in the Fortuna Sworn but have to admit that I started to struggle in Book 3 and then have really struggled with this Book 4. I just found Fortuna became a particularly unbearable whiny kind of character with increasingly few redeeming qualities (she is self-obsessed and bordering on narcissistic and lacks empathy for others, except for a very random selection of characters who she (often quite unexplainedly) takes under her wing, she dislikes herself but lacks any maturity within her self-awareness) and, as a result, I found it hard to believe in her or understand why so many other characters believed in her and this book really started to drag for me. I kept stopping and restarting but a few pages in, I found it hard to take and would stop again. Some of the characters are very one-dimensional – Damon, Gil, Emma, Adam, Nym for example, they lack depth and it’s hard to really understand the relationship as everything is so focussed on Fortuna and her pov without real explanation. Damon would have been a character worth developing for example and not sure why this hasn’t happened. Agree Ollie is hard to understand, also started to find Laurie a bit cartoonish. I really wanted to love this series but just think I am struggling with so many books with just Fortuna’s selfish pov and not enough character development and motivation for the others – Collith is probably the most well-developed character other than Fortuna and I still find his motivations a little hard to believe. Fortuna is clearly really sexy and beautiful IRL to drive others to love her as they do and to bypass all the things she actually does. I mean how on earth does one get over her almighty violent temper tantrum at the end of Book 3. It was a ludicrous over-reaction to a lover’s tiff. I’m sorry to write this, as I am obviously in the minority here. Hated the final chapters just felt chaotic like it was being made up as the writer went along. I won’t read the next book yet which is difficult after committing so much time to this series so far. Sorry as I did love the first 2 books.

LOVE FORTUNA SWORN !!!
I was so excited to read this book. Fortuna Sworn is one of my favourite book series and I was really anxious to get my hardcover copy !!! Unfortunately I was in the start of a reading slump when I started reading it, so I (embarrassingly) took two months for me to read it through. But every time I did pick it up I loved every bit !!!The beginning made me SO happy after the last books cliffhanger. I was so upset after Deadly Dreams and was questioning for months how Beautiful Nightmares would fix my heart. It did, very quickly thankfully. The cliff hanger wasn’t bad surprisingly. Every other book left me feeling like I NEED to read the next NOW. Im kinda glad since book 5 won’t be out til next year, so I won’t be sitting around wondering what’s going to happen with Fortuna, Collith and Laurie.

Best one in the series yet! Can't wait to find out what happens next
It feels like so much happened in this book and I definitely enjoyed it. Although this isn't my favorite series ever, it's definitely a very memorable one and I'm fully invested in these characters and their story at this point. I just want them all to be happy!THESE BOOKS ARE SO LONG and so complicated, they're honestly a little hard to read as they're published. On one hand, I like the complexity because it makes the story better overall, but on the other hand, there's so much going on that it's hard to keep up without completely rereading the books. I wish there was a recap of key events/characters at the beginning of each book!I REALLY LIKE HOW COMPLEX all of the characters are. I feel like all of the main characters are morally grey - all of them have to make tough decisions with consequences and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty if it's for a good reason (with *a good reason* being open to interpretation lol). I feel like it makes them way more believable and interestingTHE PACING WAS GREAT in this book, especially in the beginning! So many interesting and exciting things were happening that I was constantly on the edge of my seat. There was a much-needed reprieve in the middle, but overall it was a very fast-paced book.OLIVER AND THE DREAMSCAPE are still my least favorite things about this series. I admit that the dreamscape is super creative and well written, but I think it takes a bit too much away from the primary story. I honestly started heavily skimming over the dreamscape fights and skipping right to the memories because that's all that really mattered. Overall, I feel bad for Oliver, I really do... I want him to get his moment and become real. But I don't want Fortuna and Oliver to be anything more than friendsWE ARE FINALLY getting to some steamier moments in the romance. What a slow burn! The last book had some moments too, but I felt like they were just better in this oneOverall, I like the direction that this series is taking. The books could be a bit shorter because sometimes there are characters and plotlines introduced that don't seem to go anywhere, but hopefully, everything will come together in the end.I recommend this if you're looking for a new adult fantasy romance with an incredibly intricate world and magic system, complex and morally grey characters, and a slow-burn romance that takes a while to build but becomes quite sexy.

Team Ollie
I absolutely adore Fortuna Sworn. I may however, be one of the few who is loyally team Ollie. I know. I know. There’s probably a twist coming that will break my heart to shatters with that one.I’m really interested to see where we go from here after that last plot twist. You know the one.
