AVOID - Recipe has changed, now contains Palm Oil
Our extended family have bought Ritz Biscuits for many decades, mainly to consume with cheese or with home-made dips. Therefore, we were very disappointed to find that the recipe has now changed for the worse.On-line the ingredients still say made with Sunflower Oil. See my screenshot image which is taken from the web site when purchased, and that clearly still says made with Sunflower Oil.Then, please check my other image, which is a shot of the ingredients list from a box that was delivered in January 2023, and that no longer mentions Sunflower Oil, which has now been totally replaced with Palm Oil!Palm Oil gives me an irregular heart beat so, I avoid it like the plague. It has the exact same effect as Trans Fats and Hydrogenated Fats used to have, until I realised the link and stopped consuming anything made with such bad fats. Then, some years later, the same cardiac effect returned, and I realised that it was caused by Palm Oil, so I now also avoid that as well, and the effect goes away.We only spotted this, thankfully before eating any, when a friend visiting for the weekend asked if they contain Gluten. So, we checked the packet of the recent delivery of Ritz Biscuits from Amazon. That's when we spotted that they have now changed the product without any notice, and now contain Palm Oil.Sadly, this is yet another one to add to the list of products not to buy.
