This leaves your hair slick smooth. You only need a little bit and only on the scalp. Yes, you must massage it in. The nozzle helps with applying. I recommend parting the hair and applying this. I normally do on areas I am concerned about hair loss. I used this for about a month or more. My hair does feel better when used after the Dr.Groot Shampoo. I use a different conditioner on my ends, but that is beside the point. This is rather warm to the touch when you massage. I have not noticed any irritation. I am in love with the way my hair feels and will try it. I do notice less frizz or stray hair. This may be different for everyone. I suggest a patch test. I do use this twice per week and massage for about 2 to 5 minutes before rinsing.
