Very nice bird house!
The bird house exceeded my expectations due to the quality and the small details like the metal around the opening, a very nice latch which opens the front to allow for cleaning, and the pre-drilled holes so it's ready to hang!I highly recommend.

Well made house meets all specs for bluebirds!
DESCRIPTION: This is a wooden (pine) birdhouse designed for Eastern Bluebirds and similar species. It comes with mounting screws and anchors. There are several mounting options. It is off-season here, so we are not mounting the house until spring. This review is based on an inspection of the product.————————ASSEMBLY: The house comes ready to mount.————————HOW I USED IT: We have seven bluebird houses around our property, most of which see regular use. The Eastern Bluebirds seem to like to use different houses each year, and they seem to enjoy visiting the vacant ones off-season as well. Our houses are homemade, and of a similar design to this product. This house will be added to the property as part of regular replacement as needed. We mount the houses on an 8' piece of 3/4" EMT electrical conduit (2' driven in ground) so predators cannot climb up to them - the conduit is too slippery.————————PLUS POINTS:This house meets all the recommended requirements:1. Proper size 1.5" entrance hole2. Proper interior size3. Wood extension piece (predator guard) prevents raccoons from reaching in4. Brass hole guard to prevent chewing animals and wear to hole edge5. Four drainage holes in floor bottom6. Floor is set about 0.25" above bottom of sides, so rain dripping off will not saturate the floor7. Saw kerfs inside door panel for birds to grip and climb8. Various mounting holes pre-drilled9. Secure latch, does not require a tool to use10. All screw construction, no nails11. Unpainted/untreated12. Gap at top of door panel for ventilation————————MINUS POINTS:No issues!————————OVERALL: We look forward to mounting this house in the spring and providing another home for the bluebirds!

Prime real estate available for bluebirds
Come February, the Eastern Bluebirds in our area are busy searching for suitable places to nest. For 15 years straight we have had bluebirds nesting on our property in houses that we have provided for them. Usually, the boxes will last 4 - 5 years, so we have replaced many a box. A few of our current bird houses have seen their better days and need to be restored or replaced. We saw this Kingsyard nest box and thought the bluebirds might take to it.The first thing we noticed about the box is that it is made of pine. Pine is a lot less durable than cedar, which is our favored wood for bird houses. Still, you can probably get a couple of good years out of it. The size of the nest box and entrance hole dimensions are suitable for Eastern Bluebirds. Though, we would have preferred if the roof panel extended out a bit further on 3 of the available sides. This option would keep the elements from saturating the front and side wood panels, as well as, deterring predators from easy access to the entrance hole. The supplied metal predator guard is rather thin and on our particular box, has a crooked placement. In the past, we have had squirrels gnaw away at the wood near the entrance, to enlarge the hole for easy access (for their own nesting). Hopefully, this guard will prevent that from happening. The panel on the front of the box is hinged and lifts upward. It is secured by a very solid metal latch. This type of fastener seems a little more durable than other closures we have seen on bluebird houses. The floor of the nest box is cut at each corner for drainage. This is a very important feature for the health and welfare of the nestlings. If you open up the front panel and look inside, you will see grip grooves or kerfs, carved into the backside of the panel. These slits are to aid the baby birds when they are ready to fledge. It gives them something to grab on to when attempting to exit the hole. The entire box is fastened together by screws. The holes are drilled well and the screws tightly held. To hang the nest box, hardware (plastic anchors and wood screws with a Phillips head) are included.Over the years, we have joyously observed countless bluebird families thrive on our property. In 2024, we look forward to providing a dry, safe comfortable new home for our Eastern Bluebird friends with this Kingsyard nest box.

Kingsyard Blue Bird House
The blue birdhouse is solid and sturdy. There are no chemical odors. It seems to be made of pine, so you could paint the box with something non-toxic on the outside, which could be a fun children's project, or decorate it with decals or paint as a gift. Very easy to clean. I like that they use slits on the front of the opening on the inside to help assist fledgling out of the box. It can become slippery otherwise for them to get to the opening.I look forward to putting this up in late winter; we usually have over a dozen bluebirds and a dozen swallows competing over the seven boxes in our field, so it is time to add another.
