Review: Absolutely in love with this series - I have never seen one episode of Morse, though I knew about it. I discovered Endevour in February when I read a review of the first episode of the sixth season. I watched it in streaming and liked it so much I looked for more: I began season one then decided to buy all the available dvds. There wasn't one disappointing episode in 23: Endeavour is as good as British tv gets. the cast is great and Shaun Evans is as good as he is handsome. the setting, the Swinging '60's in Oxford, is never obvoious, always interesting. The plots are consistently well built, not repetitive, and the characters always credible. PLUS, which is probably what made me love the show , that additional ingredient - no, not the opera: Endeavour Morse likes it and we hear it, but I don't like it. No, I mean the poetry. All the lovingly chosen, beautifully recited quotes, always appropriate, sometimes surprising. I Love Endeavour.O. I am repeating myself. i know. Review: A very worthwhile buy. - I took a little while to warm to the Morse stories, and found the prominence given to classical music to be sometimes irritating. However! Right from the start of Endeavour, I was completely pulled in to each episode. The story of his beginnings unfolds beautifully, with all of the cast believable in their characters. A truly excellent and compelling series, covering some thought provoking plots, a few of which weave through the story as a whole. Thoroughly recommend this box set, and am now looking forward to revisiting my Morse box set.

Superb
This series just gets better and better with each succeeding series as the young innocent Endeavour Morse grows and develops into the older Morse that so many people loved. The inclusion of many events that were relevant to the times just adds to the stories which often have an unexpected twist. The acting is brilliant especially from Roger Allam who in many ways steals the show from Shaun Evans. They have left the series with a number of questions to be answered in series 6 as well.

D.C Morse
If you enjoy Morse and Lewis you will love Endeavour. It done in the same manner as Morse. It's about the early career of Morse starting from a young D.C. It follows Morse and his relationship with D.I Thursday who becomes his mentor. Watch this you won't be disappointed.

Uneven sound level on disk 1 or would have been 5*
In a couple of scenes in S1 episode 1, the sound volume drops then returns to "normal" eg at the end of the episode when Morse and Thursday are in the car. Scenes where this issue happens are used in the "Extras" disk and also have the volume level issue. Rest if the disks are fine. Anyone else had this problem? I compared the volume on my SKY recordings of the entire Endeavour series from the TV and the volume is fine on them. (Need to free up SKY box disk space so bought the disks.) Disappointing on that one episode as I wanted this as a long-term keep and expected it to be perfect.

Great drama!
Can't go wrong with anything Morse related really and as a prequel these dramas do not disappoint. Interesting to watch the characters evolve and the police force and crimes change over the years.

This is entertainment like it used to be before the Network's went cheap, cheap, cheap.
This is truly an outstanding series. It is a far cry from the crap detective shows you currently see on the networks. Please have a wonderful story line instead of bang, bang, bang. There is a lot of interpersonal relationships that go on in the show that you won't find in any other Network show.
