KUHH RIKON, Red Original Swiss Peeler, Set of 1

My original review from 2019: Cheap feeling, used once and has a rust spot or coating flake off. See pic.I like the Kuhn Rikon knives, but this was not a good purchase even at 5 bucks and change.Update 6/2022: I upgraded to 4 stars. The blade on this thing looks like crap, but it’s held a razor edge and I’m still using it. If you are squeamish about rust, think twice. If you just want to peel veg efficiently and cheaply, eh, it’s pretty good.Update 8/2022: I see that wirecutter recommended this. I feel sad that all these folks are returning or tossing theirs when they rust. You know how a carbon steel pan looks like crap the minute you use it but gives you the best seat and stays nonstick despite using metal utensils?If you want a nice looking peeler that feels substantial, look elsewhere (maybe Oxo?)If you want something that stays razor sharp for 5 years despite costing $4.50 (and did I say how the blade looks like crap 10 seconds after you buy it?) this is just a great deal. I would upgrade to 5 stars but looks like it now costs double what I paidOk, still sharp and useful in June 2025. Cheap feeling and ugly, but still works like a champ. I love it. I gave it the 5th star.

I purchased this peeler as a backup to my OXO peeler. I wanted to have a second one so my husband could assist me with peeling potatoes when we have big family holiday meals. I should have stayed with my original brand as it has lasted eight years without any issue but I went for the less expensive peeler.First of all, it is flimsy. It feels light extremely lightweight plastic. I chalked that up to the lesser price and figured it would be okay for a secondary peeler.Then we used it. It peeled just fine. Then we washed it. I washed it like I do all my utensils – by hand and air dry. This is the way to keep utensils lasting longer. The problem is this peeler rusted and did so after one use.To say I don't like the product is an understatement. It is good for nothing except the trash. I'll go back to my original brand that works well, has for years, and has never rusted.

Great product

Works really well, comfortable with sharp and clean peeling. First time I washed it I did not dry it immediately, so it rusted. The rust rinsed off and learned my lesson to dry it immediately

This is a terrific little peeler. It’s by far the best I own. I hesitated purchasing it because I already own 2 others, but I’m so glad I did get it. It’s easy to use and therefore makes quick work of any necessary peeling. This was the top pick of Wirecutter.
