Works well with watches of 38mm or larger diameter
There are devices that keep automatic watches fully wound when they are not being worn and now there is one to recharge solar watches off the wrist; it is the "CoolFire Solar Watch Fast Charger (compatible with all kinds of eco solar watches) 1046". Getting sufficient light onto a watch-face during the darker months to add to its current charge state is a perennial problem and necessarily involves artificial light sources, most of which emit varying levels of heat that could seriously damage the watch's internal components if sufficiently close (halogen and filament bulbs are the worst); at best, when too distant, charging can be exceedingly slow and need many days. Even with cool- or cold-running CFL or LED bulbs, 24-48 hour charge times are typical and may not then fully charge a watch. The LEDs used in this are a true cold light source and 22 of them produce a strong white light. Power is via a USB cable which may be connected to a computer or a mains USB plug adapter. A co-axial jack socket is a possible power provision option but the enclosed leaflet neglects to mention it but presumably also requires 5v at 2A.Not all solar watches are equal and some charge more quickly than others. The instructions for different watches may include charge times under various lighting conditions. According to the manual for a certain Citizen watch, 20 hours is required for a full charge at 100,000 lumens (bright full sunshine) and 60 hours at 10,000 lumens (cloudy, overcast day). For another Citizen watch, 11 hours in full sunshine is suggested confirming variations among Citizen's watches and other brands may have similar variations. With 40,000 lumens supplied by this unit, 36-48 hours may suffice for a top-up charge sufficient for up to 60 days' use although considerably longer than the 10 hours suggested by a previous reviewer for a full charge. A watch with a charge indicator (recharged only a week or two ago) may be allowed to run down almost to empty to gain an accurate full-charge time. Citizen use overcharge protection devices to terminate the process once the power reservoir is full; other brands may not.The unit is sufficiently small to fit on a bedside table, a small area on computer desk etc provided that there is at least a nearby mains socket or computer; some audio devices have USB charge ports for just such a situation. A power bank is yet another power source option.Other than the unit and USB lead, two soft rubber watch supports/masks are included to respectively suit watches of around 43 mm and 38 mm diameter; there is no specific provision for small-faced ladies' watches and some light leak will occur unless further masked in some way. The unit is light but unstable as the length and weight of the USB lead tend to drag it but with a weighty all-metal bracelet watch mounted it is perfectly stable. Lightweight poly-carbonate watches with silicone, nylon or fabric straps may be a problem unless extra weight, e.g. several large coins, is placed on the back of the watch. This charger is faster, brighter and more efficient than the CFL desk lamp first used or the LED one later used, both with lamp-to-watch distances of around 15-18 cm and typically for up to 48 hours, sufficient for at least 50% charge levels in most instances. There is an option to insert two AAA batteries via the base and then to use it as a super-bright torch or emergency light.

Very handy gadget for solar powered watches
Charges my GSHOCK watches really well. Nice little gadget, well made and simple to use.My only criticism would be that I think it's over priced for what it is. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars.

Just works!
This Coolfire Solar watch charger is a life-changer. Being almost housebound due to mobility problems it has become well-nigh impossible to keep my Citizens Eco Drive watch charged properly. My flat is on the ground floor and only gets good sun exposure early in the day - I was struggling to keep watch charged on windowsill on dull days and eventually gave up. I then tried placing it within inches of a 100 watt (LED equivalent) lightbulb for hours/days/weekends/a week to top it up. If I forgot to do this for say a month or so the battery was in danger of dying on me. The movement of the hands changes to warn you the battery is very flat - the second hand jumps irregularly instead of moving smoothly. A couple of times watch stopped completely before I noticed it was doing this. Watch then began to spend more time almost affixed to the lightbulb than on my arm as I was scared I'd lose my favourite watch.Since October 2023 when I purchased this Coolfire Solar watch charger I have a much easier way to keep the battery topped up. I set the timer on my Kindle Fire for 8 hours, I place my watch on my solar charger, I plug the charger into mains power, start the timer on kindle, get on with my day until timer beeps. I switch off the power to the charger. Boom, I have my watch battery charged. I repeat the above about every week to 10 days to make sure there's always enough power in the battery to prevent it getting completely destroyed.Try it, buy it, save yourself a lot of hassle keeping your solar watches running for years. Get them out of storage and on to a charger just to keep them all alive - especially if you stay in Scotland like me and cannot always trust the sun to be bright enough to keep the battery working 100% all year round.

That works and charges my new tag heuer solargraph
This is a bright light that charges battery watches that are solar charged i bought a new watch and needed to charge it it was almost out of power this charged it right up and charges the luminus hands and minutes markers every five mins when charged they stay illuminated quite some time the light has two rubber guards mine came with only one but that could be due to packing it doesnt charge faster than sunlight but sunlight when shining does make my tag heuer watch quite hot this makes it slightly warm so i feel its less harmful so never going to have issues on cloudy days its worth the money if you have a solar powered watch I would recommend this if your worried about your expensive watch getting to hot directly from the sun tags aren't cheap but great watches and I aim to have it my entire life whuvh is short due to copd but I wanted an accurate watch alteast once in my life my old gshock watch I threw away because the battery went flat and wouldn't charge by sunlight in the winter I wish I had this to recharge it by mistake but life's full of learning curves I would definitely recommend this item worth every penny

Don't turn it on without a watch in place!
Excellent device that proves very handy for charging solar-powered watches; a few hours will be enough to get them working. It operates just fine off a USB hub.The light is very bright - even to give you residual flashes for a minute or two if you look at it even briefly. Make sure your watch is in place before turning it on!
