Force is ideal for compact forms of compression and tensile testing. It is very intuitive to use, easy to read from any Angle, and has a wide measurement range and high resolution. Very pleased with the result.

I’ve used it to test spring weights and trigger pulls. Much more useful than the units sold specifically for that one purpose.

I own two old analog Force gauges, so when I saw this one appearing on my Amazon Vine list, I decided to try it.While it is not the first tool a woodshop or a metal shop user reaches for, it can be helpful in some situations. Checking the correct tension of a bandsaw’s blade, determining the strength of a glue joint and its shearing resistance, or testing the surface hardness of types of wood are some tasks this force gauge can succeed in.As some reviewers have mentioned, this set is comprehensive and includes all you need. It looks and feels substantial and performs well. I liked the peak memory option that displays the highest measured force reached, even after disengaging the gauge from the object.I tested it on a hammer and rubber mallets to see how much force was needed to push them. The hammer moved after 4.0 N, and the rubber face mallet needed 4.7 N. You can check my images for more info.The only thing I didn’t like was that the gauge couldn’t measure any force before the 2.5N threshold had been reached. In other words, although the maker claims it has a sensibility of 0.1N (Load division value), it is not sensitive enough for small forces. So if you need a probe for these parameters, choose another model whose lower limit sensitivity is more refined.

Holds peak force, tension / compression.

What a great little piece of test equipment with one fatal flaw, if you are using this for tensile strength testing where the test specimen breaks, the forces applied back on the machine jar the unit to the point where the batteries shift inside the compartment enough to cause them to lose connection on the week battery springs, this turns the unit off so you lose your values that you just recorded, i tried bending the battery springs and placing stiffeners in there but no luck. I ended up hard wiring a 3 volt power supply to the battery terminals, and now it works flawlessly.

Unit initially worked but after first use it would not measure. All attempts to calibrate and reset were useless. It appears the load sensor failed.

With the advent of home CAD machines making sure belt tension is both equal ( multiple drive axis) and the correct tension helps with giving the best possible results. My 3D printer which has two drive belts for the Y and Z axis means that they both need to be in sync and with the correct tension to give best results and repeatable results. Before getting this gauge it was best guess on equalizing them and that caused different wear to both belts as well as giving less then optimal results. After having used the tension gauge I am getting better wear and better coordination between the stepper motors. I highly recommend having a tension gauge for multiple uses but in my case for setting up my 3D printers.

Im Betrieb zeigen sich aber Schwächen, auf Grund derer ich das Messgerät zurück gegeben habe:1. die englische Bedienungsanleitung ist nicht sehr hilfreich, sondern eher verwirrend2. die Messdynamik ist sog. Peak Bereich ist zu gering, so dass kurzzeitige Kraftspitzen nicht erfasst und angezeigt werden
