Blisters. - The gel pads inside the fabric are small for UK size 12 feet. They do not cover all the ball of foot area. The pads also looks very thin, but at least they still help to improve the pressure in the covered area. Unfortunately, the unprotected area is still vulnerable to develop blisters (something I also wanted to avoid wearing these gel pads). I had one gel pads from a big chain of pharmacies and they were big enough to cover all that area and thicker. Definitely, these gel pads are better for smaller feet (I bought the UK size 7-12 version). Other issue is that the friction of the elastic bands has caused blisters in my small fingers and the middle one when there is the separation between the big finger and the others. Thus, I have to put some tape to protect my fingers. I started getting pains in the ball of my foot after prolonged street walking 20-30k steps per day, Whilst stopping completely is not an option which is possibly the best thing for a part of the foot that has little cushioning of its own, the cushion pads do help and enabled walking and effectively reduced pressure/pain on that area of my foot, and more effective than "fatigue" insoles for shoes. Downsides - they take a bit of getting used to as in reality it just an elasticated tubular bandage with a hole cut for your big toe and one for the rest with a gel pad sewed in underneath. It does slip after long walks and feels like a sock that is about to come off so needs some adjusting every so often. Can take washing in a machine at 40 and hasn't shrunk so far If i was able and capable of making my own version having used these for a few weeks I think a constructed two layer full sock with a larger ball gel pad would work better and be more comfortable.
