I'm new to wearing cycling shorts, but these seem to do as advertised. The crotch padding feels very weird at first, but it does provide some additional padding where needed. After riding for a short while, the padding is not noticeable, and I can't say that it really does a lot...but it does help. If the padding breaks down after time, it won't be of any benefit, so only time will tell.The overall fit is pretty good. The pockets have very light weight zippers, which makes me wonder how durable they are. I find it easier to pull my leg over my bike seat than conventional shorts, so that's a big plus for these shorts.Overall, I would recommend these, as they are affordable and come in a range of sizes and colors. Refer to the sizing chart for fit.
