Embroidery of a Journey: Encounters with England's Wildflowers - Japanese Embroidery Book

These embroidery patterns are gorgeous and seem true to life. This book is totally in Japanese, but some of the instructions are illustrated, so it is possible to figure out what the stitches are, although it was a little hard because the patterns themselves sometimes used abbreviations of the whole name that was given when it showed how to make the individual stitches.

The patterns are outstanding. I thought I had ordered the English edition and was surprised that it was not. There are some techniques that I am not familiar with and cannot do because of the language, but have loved the garden and wild flower patterns.

Pretty to look at but not very useful

The books are written completely in Japanese this was not mentioned when I placed my order

OK, so I don't understand a word. But who cares? The inspiration in this book is worth it, and although a beginner may not be able to follow the stitch diagrams, this book is not aimed at beginners. If you are a reasonably skilled embroider buy this book for the beautiful inspiration. I can't wait to get going!
