Small but mighty. A tad heavy for travel, perhaps, but it is ceramic after all
I love the Bower bird palettes, and own a few different kinds. They are consistently beautiful, well thought out, made, and presented. This one is no exception. With its 12 wells and dedicated mixing area in a small compact size, plus the fact that it comes housed in a pretty hinged tin and thick paper box, it is a perfect ceramic travel palette for many. It is slightly heavy for a travel palette; but that is the price ceramic palette lovers must pay to travel with them. At least this one comes with some buffering material that is wedged underneath the palette within the tin to cushion shock as an added reinforcement. Speaking of whatโs underneath the palette; the flip side of the 12 wells plus mixing area features four larger mixing areas, offering the traveling artist a very nice ceramic mixing area for those who want to work with a few colors and a limited palette. Btw, I think I paid under $15 for this, so the price on all the Bower bird palettes are quite reasonable. I could easily see myself buying more.

Perfect!
This just arrived and is the cutest thing Iโve ever seen. From the lovely metal tin, to the wonderful little porcelain palette with 18 - 1/4 size wells to the swatch chart that is included. Some may want to change the chart for watercolor paper but I only need a reminder of what is in the palette as I have these colors swatched elsewhere. Iโve got tons of little plastic palettes but have never seen a porcelain one this size. Perfect for on the go or when I want to paint from my recliner rather than in my studio.

Perfect for my needs!
This is a beautiful palette with a sturdy metal case. I love the pure white color! Users could fill the wells with enough paint to do several projects, as they're about the size of a half pan, or the wells can stay empty for mixing. I've had no issues with staining--even with deep blues and purples! The large mixing well is also big enough to hold some travel brushes. The Bower Bird travel set is not my favorite but it does fit perfectly. There is some wiggle room inside the metal case, so I kept the foam it was packed in to protect it during travel. I also super-glued a piece of ribbon to the porcelain to aid in removing the palette for cleaning. (That also allows me to easily switch to the four wells on the back!) It might be heavier than some would like, especially those who are flying or need something slimmer, but I've found it perfect for what I need. The price is great, too! I would just suggest swatching on actual watercolor paper, as the included swatch card is really thin and not suitable for watercolors.

Wow! First Impressions...
My First Impressions, I like the decorative details on the packaging. The ceramic layout size of the paint wells within fits my expectation of this pallet overall size. Excellent design, size, and inclusion of blank color chart! I even placed the two Styrofoam strips into a good angle creating a slight forward dip, for a better ceramic use experience within the tin holder. I would highly recommend this prodect for just the well triangular shape and size. Mixing area isn't bad, but the wells in this portable size did it for me.

Beautiful and unique.
Absolutely beautiful and unique. Yes, itโs small, but so cute and different. Yes, itโs a little pricey for being so small, but its uniqueness makes up for the price and actually, they could charge a lot more. There are no other artistic palettes like them. I bought 2. The little bears and the leopards. I love them! They would make a beautiful and unique gift.

Beautiful compact ceramic palette in a nice tin box.
Ceramic palettes are lovely for watercolor painting, but hard to find in "portable" sizes. This palette is a great value and makes a fine addition to an urban sketching kit. It comes beautifully packaged in a nice metal tin that will also hold a few half or quarter pans of paint and a few napkins or small rag. Obviously it's heavier than an equivalent plastic palette but that's rarely a problem.

Amazing palette
Like the palette donโt like the tin at all. Iโll look for another tin. The palette rattles around in the tin. I have to pad it. The ceramic palette is amazing though

Perfect size for my Daniel Smith tube collection. Really like being able to use ceramic mixing area. Only using it inside so far. One improvement would be if the mixing area had a central partition, to allow for wetter mixes. Great if you paint small pieces, like me.

It's a nice idea, but as other reviewers have mentioned the palette rattles around in the tin. Using the padding it comes with would only work as long when you're actually painting you've taken it out. It's also incredibly expensive for what it is, and I have returned it primarily for that reason. I also agree with the reviewer who commented that the swatch card was not very appropriate for use with watercolours.

Perfect for a small paint palette. What I love is the porcelain...no more staining! I use the wells to store my watercolour pigments squeezed from a tube, and the large space for mixing my colours. It is wonderful to have something that is non-plastic and heavy enough that it doesn't move around on the table. For travel, it is heavier than plastic or metal palettes but even for my small hands I can hold it easily for plein air painting.

I love mixing watercolours on ceramic. This pallet is compact, lightweight (for ceramic) and easy to travel with. A pleasure to use.
