It is not as padded as I expected (using on a bare laminate floor) for things like the frogger or boat pose. The knobbly texture is a double-edged sword: provides better grip if you drip sweat on the mat but it isn't really comfortable on bare skin and traps dust. The mat has a mild smell that quickly dissipated within a day or two and it lays perfectly flat each time I unroll it (twice a day).
