The illustrations in the book are easy to follow. They layout is well done. The font, shapes and sizes are pleasant to look at and don't feel overwhelming at all. All of the pages are super cute but doesn't have the overly busy feel. Sometimes I even find my daughter just looking at it even without paper in front of her. All of the illustrations and things you are instructed to draw are cartoon in nature. There are 30 different step-by-step drawings. I have purchased this book, as well as the animal drawing book by the same author. Both books follow the same pattern. There are also fun facts throughout the book. At the beginning the book, there is a page about colors and how colors complement each other, how there are color temperatures and information about color mixing. This is a book I feel like I can sit down with my daughter and draw right along with her. It is so well done. I would purchase this again without hesitation. It would make a good gift for any kids parties we get invited to. It's not just another toy to sit around the house, but something that actually engages the child and stirs the imagination.
