Impressive Device for Gaming
This is an impressive piece of kit. It is easy to set up and operate if you already have a Steam account and in minutes you can be up and running with your existing games. The OLED touchscreen has good resolution and is big enough for readability. Battery life seems okay. As a pure handheld there are a couple of downsides: it is quite heavy yet the thumbsticks seem to me not as robust as I would have liked compared, for example, with an Xbox controller’s; however a big upside is that it is easily connected wirelessly with an external controller, mouse and keyboard which greatly increases functionality. What you then have is a highly portable gaming pc that you can also use as a handheld. I would recommend getting an external Bluetooth keyboard as this simplifies setting up the handheld buttons for any particular game you want to configure especially for older games (which btw generally seem to run well). Configuring using the screen keyboard can be done but it gets a bit cluttered. Newer games, e.g. Baldur’s Gate 3, come pretty well configured already or you can download ‘community’ configurations readily. But even an old nail like Sudeki - originally a console game I think - runs and looks very well. One thing: this is not a toy. I don’t think it will tolerate much dropping from a height or too many sticky fingers. Much as I love him I wouldn’t lend it to my nine year old grandson while he can play on my other gadgets all day. Anyway he always beats me.

Lovely piece of kit
Bought this for my wife as a Christmas gift (she is not normally into console games) and she absolutely loves it, took her a while to familiarise herself the the controls and now there is no stopping her

The Handheld That Punches Your Boredom and Your Wallet
Valve has done it again. In their ongoing mission to prevent you ever catching a glimpse of the outside world again, it seems they asked themselves "How can we ensure gamers remain glued to their screens while at least appearing to be going outside?" Ladies and gentlemen, they've done it.Let me start with, this chunk of beastly machine is more than a handheld; its a commitment. Have a girlfriend ? No you don't? Relationship free, so you aren't distracted? Good. Nor do you have time to shower. Your new side partner has a steamy name that requires 100% attention and nor do you have time to shower. Or even the weight of the system, let's throw away those bicep curls and get some gaming work out in.There's always that one friend who's an amazing party guest but who also leaves you feeling a little wiped out... or in this case, wiped out and poor. It plays just about every Steam game you'd want and will clobber your bank account like none other. Each game purchase is like Valve personally congratulating you on funding their "Take Over The World" effort.Battery life? It has battery life—just enough to fool you into thinking you can finish whatever you’re doing before the screen goes black and your hopes and dreams go with it. It’s like Russian roulette for your game progress. Fun!I mean come on, lets really talk about that part of a gaming console; the ergonomics put into it; or as I like to call it. "The Cramp Maker 3000" who knew playing your favourite games, could also double as you favourite medieval torture scene. But what's that saying, no pain no game; or something like that, right?Ultimately, the Steam Deck is the product you never realized you required, and in all likelihood don’t still. Be that as it may, who are you joking. Since some place, inside you—a spot light can never reach—you love or if nothing else adore feeling this much torment. You need this void emblem to light up your face in a faintly lit room, and feel it consume as you whisper: Just one more game.So don’t be afraid blackout the lights, The Steam Deck awaits, possibly your soul, just about all of your free time and definitely your battery life as it transforms into a soul sucking parasitic creature that loves to eat away time. But hey, you’ll at least be having fun right?

Steam Deck
Purchased the steam deck on a Sunday night and it arrived by Tuesday. Was sceptical with the purchase at first because I’ve had handheld consoles before and weren’t massively impressed, the steam deck changed all that. From the storage capacity to the visual graphics it really blows me out of the water and I could wait to tinker around with it over the Christmas break. Happy with how fast the delivery was and it was in perfect condition!

Buy the PS 5 instead.
Bought this console for my son to replace his PS5.The good:• Portable;• Games seems to be cheaper than on Play Station; The bad:• More expensive than PS5;• Some of the popular games (Black Ops 6, Funko Fusion etc) won’t work without additional software that needs to be installed separately, or won’t work at all (good thing, you can get a refund).• Parental control is very complicated to setup (still can’t do it);So my advice to anyone who wants trouble-free life: buy the PS5 (had it for 2 years, no issues at all).
