Comes with all the parts...
I've been picking up attachments to my 1400 router and my 1010 router and for some reason, the parts for the 1400 are a much better deal. I say that because this edge guide comes with some parts that are extra for the 1010. Why?Anyways, this is a heavy duty and robust edge guide, and well made with less plastic than the 1010 edge guide. Like, it comes WITH the dust guard and the fine adjustment built in, those are both extra costs with the 1010 Plus the fine adjustment is much more heavy duty and more well built. This guide is a bargain if you ask me. Fits the router perfectly and does the job well.Very happy with this unit and would gladly recommend!

but I've been frustrated with getting a precise setup and fine adjustments. After some research I made the leap ...
I use an up cut spiral bit in my router with an edge guide to cut mortises in the furniture I build. For several years I've used a PC router and PC edge guide. It's given me acceptable results, but I've been frustrated with getting a precise setup and fine adjustments. After some research I made the leap to a Festool 1400 router and this edge guide. The difference between the Festool and PC is night and day. The Festool edge guide is easy to attach to the router, set to the marks and really easy to make precise fine adjustments. I've used it to cut about 4 dozen mortises of various size as well as to cut the area needed to install an inset vise in my workbench. The leap to Festool is hard on the pocket book, but the results are worth it. The other bonus to me is the dust collection. After 2 dozen mortises I had maybe a tablespoon of dust that wasn't picked up by the vacuum. Time saved cleaning up is great.

One is good, two is better
This is really a must-have if you use your router for much more than edge routing, eg. rabbets, mortises, etc. It's solid, attaches quickly, adjusts easily and accurately, and is a great alternative to the Porter Cable 42690 Edge Guide which fits most routers other than Festool. The other great thing about this guide, and the reason you might consider getting two, is that you can use a pair of them in place of the Festool 495246 Plexiglas Template Routing Aid, and for half the price. The Festool guide rods are long enough to reach both sides of the router at once, and with one of these on each side you can easily rout the edges of doors and other narrow stock where a single guide would probably be too unstable.

Very accurate
Usual Festool quality and precision, beautifully made and a joy to use. I use this as a second fence to accurately centre the router on narrow stock. Having fine adjusters on both fences makes this very easy and quick to set up mortises and grooves and to make fine lateral adjustments to widen the groove or mortise as required.

Great
LIke other said this is kind of a must have. Works great no problems, I have used it for allot of rabbits. My only complaint would be I wish it came with (or were available for $$) a short hose and a Y to connect both the upper and this lower dust collection hoods together so you could use a single long hose for both. When I used for rabbits I only used the dust collection hood that comes with this guide as I didnt have two hoses and and a Y, and it only collected 60% of the chips or so in my use.

Get 2 of these
Read carefully, it does not come with the rods. The router came with the rods not this edge guide. This is my second one to use one on each end of the tool to act a a follower on the edge of materials or doors. It allows you to cut a precise rabbet or plow and if the bit does begin to chatter it will not pull itself off of it's intended course ruining your cut. I specifically use this to cut slots into 2x4's and 3x6's on the narrow side. The rods are long enough to grasp tightly on both sides and the shoes slip well enough so there is no unwanted friction. 2 of these almost replaces a router table. I use them with my OF1400 model plunge router.
