How far from the outlet cover does the arm extend?

Not very far. at all. It gives enough room to use both outlets assuming a normal sized plug is being plugged in. But it's made of a thin, cheap plastic, so it lacks the rigidity for the arm to extend much at all.

Will this work with a one screw metal face plate?

I would think the metal face plate would work better than the thin plastic plates most of us have.

Awesome Wall Mount. I like that the design changed so that you reuse your old wall plate. The notch where to place the tray into the wall mount could be tighter. That way it wouldn’t shake as much.
