Heat stable to 212 degrees F Premium quality utensils are microwave and freezer safe The product is really quite sturdy and has a high melt point so a home DIY kind of composting may not be sufficient for it to break down - just IMHO. **Q: Why are these made in China?** A: That's where they get the raw material from. You'd have to ask the Transitions folks. We're simply a distributor. **Q: Are these compostable or just biodegradable?** A: These are bio-degradable. They will break down just not as quickly as a certified compostable utensil will. The difference between bio-degradable vs compostable is the amount of time it takes to break down. These are great teaspoons - they are not soup spoon size. They are also very durable and I have been able to wash and reuse some of them in an effort to try to be "greener" and waste less. I like that they are biodegradable and will buy these again for our office in the future. I have severe depression and no dishwasher, so during low points, I use disposable dishes to help me stay fed without agonizing over washing. But I hated the idea of throwing away so much plastic that wouldn't safety rot in a landfill. With these, I can throw them in the trash and not worry about it (though I do still use them as many times as I can). They're also much better-made than I'd expected; they're stiff but not brittle/crack-prone, safe to microwave, sturdy enough to reuse multiple times, and don't melt in boiling drinks. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for sack lunches *by C***R on November 19, 2022* I purchased these for kid sack lunches. They hold up well in dishwasher for at least a couple times (we haven’t tried more times), don’t have sharp edges and are inexpensive enough to just let them get thrown away. They seem sturdy enough for most foods, and are fairly strong for plasticware but I wouldn’t try them with frozen solid ice-cream or other hard foods.
