I didn't read the product description carefully, and I thought that the pieces are magnetic, but actually they are not!Also, the storage is not ideal. The rubber bands in the storage box are very tight. I feel like I have torn a few of them slightly while packing the pieces myself; if I let some boys or teenagers do the packing, then surely they would tear the rubber bands apart. I'd rather just put all the pieces into a Ziploc bag and be done with it. I'd much prefer a foam layer with the cutout shapes, so that people can fit the pieces in very quickly.Anyway, I got it for half price, so I don't feel so bad.

My son taught himself how to play chess online so I bought him this board. He was so excited. He loves it. It was the perfect started board. Super sturdy and the pieces are great quality.

I'm not the first to mention this, but Magnetic is listed as the number 2 feature, but what they really mean is the board has a magnetic clasp.They know they are being dishonest. Note to self, do not buy anything from Asney company.

The description is very misleading, and I’m disappointed to find that the only thing magnetic about this set is the closure. The pieces are not magnetic, as most other “magnetic” sets are, and they’re very light, and easily knocked over. The board itself is very nice, and would be great with some weighted pieces. For the price, this is a nice set, but I feel like I was tricked with the “magnetic” description, and that is bad business.

The board is fairly large, and has a very smooth surface. The finished edges of the board are slightly rough, but will probably wear a bit over time to give a better feel. The magnets that keep the board closed are sufficiently strong to take the place for a latch, and if you're the meticulous type, the inner storage of the board provides elastic bands to hold each piece in place.The pieces themselves are quite lightweight, and can get knocked over easily if you're not careful, but they're not by any means fragile, and have a felt-like bottom to them.About the only thing I can complain about with this set is the awful job with the text on the outside of the box, which has no bearing on the performance of the product, but just makes it look bad by association. The product features are listed in 6 languages, but 3 of them are US, UK, and Canada, and Imperial Measure is used for all 6 languages. Also, listing "Intelligent Enlightenment" as a feature of your game is a bit much ...

We wanted to get a nice, simple set for our kid to learn to play chess. This works out perfectly. The board folds up, so it's not too big; the pieces are a nice size and well made. We like that it's small and travel-friendly so our kid can take it to grandma's house. Excellent starter set.

I got this wooden chess set, and I really like the quality of the materials and workmanship. The chessboard and chess pieces are beautiful. The chessboard is solid wood, and the chess pieces are weighted and have a nice feel to them. Overall, this is a very nice chess set that I am happy to have in my collection. Now let's play!
