The short back plate is 212mm long and the distance between screw hole fixings is 122mm; the long backplate is 245mm in length with the screw hole fixings at 210mm. If you compare these measurements to the handle you wish to replace you should be able to work out if you need a short or long back plate. The new handles are a bit longer and wider but should not be a problem as they would cover any marks left by the original handles. The spindle is 8mm square. The one I received was actually too long so I used the original spindle to save cutting the new one down.
