I have a 3 temp heat gun with a curved shrink attachment and that worked great on high for this purpose. The only negative is that I wish it had many more large pieces. Not sure what I would use the smallest ones for. You can see the solder melt into the wire strands and appears to make a strong connection. Not sure if I would trust the seal to be waterproof. A hot air gun will flow the low melting point solder inside the heat-shrink tube, making a strong electrically sound joint.
