This book is truly intriguing. Upon completing this text I perused the bibliography to discover the depth of Chandler's and Barnett's research. If you are a world history aficionado, I highly recommend this read!

Scholarly, but v readable, this is both a biography of a man of his time, and a broader treatise on the roots of the French/Vietnam war, and the roots of the Vietnam war. Recommend!

Well researched study of a “type” as embodied by one “Moke” Murray, cog in the well oiled machinery of the British Empire, from back in the day when the sun never set thereon.
