## Description

High-quality German engineering meets outstanding design - that's CHERRY. As early as 1953, production of the first microswitches began in the basement of a restaurant in Illinois. 20 years later, the first keyboards were built - making CHERRY the oldest manufacturer of computer keyboards. 1983 saw the start of production of the MX switches, which are now used billions of times in millions of keyboards around the globe. Decades of experience, passion and tradition make the brand with the cherry what it stands for today: quality products designed in Germany and aimed at all those who have high demands on performance, design, durability and functionality of their input devices. The CHERRY KC 200 MX is a reliable, mechanical office keyboard with molded keycaps, minimalist dimensions as well as an anodized metal plate. You can expect a product of high quality and aesthetics - without unnecessary frills. In addition, the KC 200 MX can boast four additional keys and tasteful white status LEDs. The original CHERRY MX2A switches provide a unique typing feel and absolute precision, which makes the mechanical keyboard attractive not only for frequent typists, but also for gamers and programmers - all at an unbeatable price-performance ratio.

Review: OK, I have had a LOT of mechanical keyboards over the years, at various price points. Between me and my wife, we've gone through at least 10 keyboards each over the last 15 to 20 years (yeah, multiple PCs, locations, use cases, unhappy with some of them, etc.). Plus, I am both a software and hardware engineer (recently retired), so I have a pretty solid context for my opinion. This Cherry KC 200 MX (with the MX2A Brown switches) is really very nice. Solid construction, a rigid metal base, and the keys have an excellent feel. I got this one for my wife to use, replacing an extremely well-used Cooler Master Storm QuickFire TK Brown mechanical keyboard that came with OG Cherry Brown switches. She is a research professional that is WFH, and also does extensive creative writing and correspondence. She is also has petite, with small hands. Well! She LOVES this keyboard - the keys feel perfect, their slightly closer pitch means this fits a full set of keys in a compact keyboard space. The keys are quiet but have a nice click feel. It has no RGB, which she never had a use for. The bronze finish is subtle and classy. And it fits in her space perfectly. Is it perfect? No, some nit-picks are the tilt-feet are a little clunky to adjust, and it would be improved if it had a standard, easily replaceable USB-C cable, but the one it comes with appears of very good quality. Overall, this is a home run, and we could not be happier with it. If the style and form factor work for you, I think you will be very pleased if you get one of these keyboards. It's very unlikely you will want to return it. :-)
Review: I was using an Ornata v3 before this, which is pretty close in price. I wanted something I could use for both work and gaming. Here's a comparison that might help if you're looking for where this excels against the Ornata and similar competitors: No lighting: I'm tired of everything having freaking lights on them! I could just disable it in the settings I guess, but then I'm just paying for a feature I'm never using. Only keys with a light are Capslock and Numlock to let you know they're on. Keys: Good tactile feel and not too loud. Just enough of each to make you feel like you're typing. I use it for both gaming and work and it handles both jobs well. Very responsive for gaming. Some might consider it a little loud if you're in a cubicle with someone and you have to type a lot, but that's what headphones are for I guess! You won't find a more quiet mechanical keyboard that stll has that tactile typing feel, so you'll have to choose which you value more. (feel > sound for me) Size: A big more compact that some keyboards, but that's a plus. No lost real estate around the edges, just well-spaced keys and easy typing. You don't feel cramped at all if you're a touch typer. It has some heft to it. I often sit with it on my lap and it's fine. Not bouncing around like leaf, but doesn't cut off circulation to your legs. Durability: Again, it has some heft to it. When I pick it up I have a habit of snagging a key and pulling the cap off. I actually broke a key or two on my Ornata because the cap connectors are flimsy plastic posts and trying to find replacements was a nightmare. These keys are well-made and durable; haven't lost one yet. Only negative to me was the Calculator(???) button in the top-right. When I have it on my lap I was accidentally pressing it against the edge of my desk a lot and opening calculator app(s) mid-game; very frustrating. It was a simple job to go into windows settings and remove the mapping to the key (google for instructions) and now it's not an issue for a recliner like me. Anyone having it sit on their desk will likely never have this issue. I was a little leery of the price point when purchasing, but I'm seeing the value in the design, layout and build quality. I don't regret my purchase at all. In the last couple years I've gone through Razer, Steel Series and Logitech keyboards all around the $100 price point and this is by far my favourite. Highly recommend it.

Great keyboard. I don't understand the hate for brown switches, great blend between tactile and I think they're perfect. The key caps feel great and high quality. It is a little clacky, but that's probably me because I tend to bottom out the switch when I type. Do wish there was a backlight option, but I touch type so it doesn't matter. Hot pluggable switches would be nice, but that would add cost. All around great deal for what you pay for it.
