Great Face Shields For Your Helmet!
Snaps securely to my half helmet and Bell 3/4 helmet. As snap on shields go, there's a "little" play between the female snaps and visor once attached. This is typical with universal style snap on shields and visors because of the adjustability of the outer snaps. They have to slide to acomodate various manufacturer helmet snap spacing and so can't be fixed solid. The only downside is walking around with it on your head rattling a little bit which personally drives me nuts, so I always take the lid off when walking any distance. It does NOT rattle will riding just to be clear. Otherwise up and down ratcheting action is solid. The locking slot in visor when the face shield is pulled all the way down is very strong. Never had one pop open/up even on "strong windy days". I really like the contour of this shield because when pulled down it's "slightly" angled inward and forces the airflow down and around the shield making for a stable situation when riding. Air doesn't blow up under or inside like the bubble face shields I've tried. Visor sets it away from your face with plenty of room for over-the-glasses sunglasses etc and leaves about 1” between them and the shield. No distortions looking through as others have commented. Hold it under a light and slowly roll back and forth. If the light reflection distorts then the light passing through it will be which can lead to fatigue and poor vision. Same with sunglasses. My face shield's flawless. A trick an optometrist taught me years ago. No more headaches or sore eyes! $2 sunglasses tested this way can outperform expensive $80-100 designer types. I highly recommend this shield. I have the clear and smoke tinted version. Tint is medium dark IMO and adequate for most folks. I wear over-the-glasses sun glasses underneath it as I like very dark tinting for my light sensitive eyes. Both equally great shields. Just be careful where and how you put them down. As noted these are not scratch resistant and will scratch if abused. I mistakenly set my helmet down on asphalt while getting gas one morning and wasn't paying attention. It spun around and the face shield hit a few loose pebbles laying there and got scratched. Still usable, but there's no rubbing them out. Real danger with scratches is facing sunlight when it highlights and reflects off of them. It can be as blinding as a reflection off any mirror or chrome so I bought a replacement and tossed the scratched one. For $20 including tax it was worth it to be safe. SIZE__Shield itself is 8 3/4" W x 6 1/2" H. (5 3/4" H viewing area below inside lower edge of visor when snapped closed = plenty of viewing area for the average person). Width measurement is strait across from inside edges side to side / edge to edge, not circumference. Depth of curvature from inside center at visor to rear edge of edges is 4 3/4". Visor itself extends 1 3/4" out from front edge of helmet. This is a well made face shield that has plenty of room inside for glasses and big noses etc (...lol). Viewing area coverage is basically 180 degrees. No wind blows inside to speak of like the bubble type face shields IMO. Doesn't look like your wearing a helmet designed for a space suit either. Visor blocks /shields the overhead sun from your eyes too. Bubble shields can't and don't do that. As noted above I use them on 3/4 and half helmets no problem. Just bought another clear one for a new 3/4 helmet I purchased. Get one! You won't be disappointed!

Very pleased, high quality at bargain price
Really pleased with this product. Here are some observations: - The Snaps are a bit tight, but with some persistence they will snap on to the helmet. - The outer snaps slide to enable you to fit it to a helmet. - The ratcheting mechanism is a bit abrupt, but I'm sure that will smooth out with use. - The closed position does have a distinct snap to it, which should help with any possible lifting that might occur while riding. - The visor seems mostly distortion-free, although I did notice a slight waviness near the top. Note that these are all not complaints just minor observations. - The smoke color seems very good, not too dark, not too light. - There's a bit of a textured finish to the solid shade portion of the visor which is nice. - And the price just can't be beat. All in all the five stars that I rate it reflect my honest appreciation. I'd buy it again if I needed another.

Poor packaging, great visor.
My first visor came scratched out of the box, and I would blame this on the lack of packaging and no protection on the actual plastic part. Second one had a minor scratch but it wasn't in my direct line of sight so its ok. This one stays firmly attached to my helmet even at 35 MPH, doesn't affect my peripheral vision, and is glasses friendly! I love that it has a clear snap when its fully down which adds to the confidence level. Inspect very carefully, because although I love the product, the packaging is ridiculously bad.

Worth every penny
This face shield has saved my mug from a few ballistic bugs already. I keep a supply of pre-moistened eyeglass lens wipes in my seat storage so that I can clean the face shield quickly without scratching it. The fact that it's not UV treated plastic means my transition eyeglasses turn into sunglasses immediately. Now I don't have to worry about changing out my tinted version of this face shield when riding at night. It also fit perfectly onto my existing helmet. Only complaint and it'a a small one...the rattle it sometimes makes even though it's snapped down into place. I'd recommend this shield to anyone riding a motorcycle or scooter. It could mean a world of difference if that bug hits you square in the eye.

So easily scratched it's downright dangerous
Wow, I should've believed the other reviewer who said this thing scratches too easily. Boy, he wasn't kidding. One rain ride and this thing had two massive scratches across my line of sight and one attempt to clean it and the swirl marks appeared like it's made of the softest plastic on earth. Riding home at night after cleaning with wipes made for cleaning lenses and the flaring lights of cars and traffic lights made it dangerous to ride. Don't waste your money.

Works as advertised
Easy to install. Good face coverage. When pulling it down into place it snaps shut to let you know it is closed, not all brands do this. On cold mornings it keeps the cold off of your face. Have just under 1000 miles on this shield under all riding conditions, except rain conditions, with speeds up to 70 mph and the shield works very well. This shield meets all my expectations.

OK shield but have, but have caution while cleaning
I like it when I first got it but then after a week it got loose enough that it wouldn’t stay open in the position i set it. It would be better if it had a way to tighten the hinges. It does close tightly and stays shut. There’s a good click when it’s shut all the way. A caution though, if you don’t close it all the way and turn your head while riding it will flip up on you. This may be the case with all shields of this type. One last thing, I ruined mine cleaning it. I used a dish scrubber to clean bugs and it scratched pretty badly. Use a soft cloth to clean it. I need to replace mine now.

MXL Industries Motorsports Products - Superb Optics!
The MXL Flip Shield, smoke colour, "untreated," is designed to fit a ***standard*** 3 snap helmet now called "retro." When I started riding the 3/4 or Open Face helmet was the norm and thankfully Amazon sells a Core brand Open Face helmet for $35. It's a great bargain, a very nice piece of protective gear. This shield makes a nice addition. Oddly the shield description omits one key feature - UV protection. While awaiting delivery I called MXL Industries to ask. An engineer there told me that the shield blocks "up to 380 nm" of UV Rays (nm is short for nanometers, UV rays range from 10nm to 400nm). Apparently that is very good protection, the current standard, according to the Review of Optometry. When the shield arrived this feature was clearly and prominently printed on the shrinkwrap. This shield is a pretty amazing bargain. Highly recommended. Amazon might want to add the UV rating to the description - it is yet another selling point.
