Vera Wang Wedgwood Arden 45-Piece Flatware Set

I spent way too long worrying and obsessing over what new flatware to buy. This set is fantastic. While I know this logic defies the best part of Amazon, do try to summon the willpower to get off your couch / chair / floor and go by a store [M@cy's carries this set] and actually hold them in your hand prior to purchase. The Vera Wang Wedgwood have a great weight to them. I didn't realize I even cared about weight until I bought the Gorham Studio set based on solid Amazon reviews; I was disappointed by how lightweight they were and cheap they felt; I returned them. All the pieces in Vera Wang Wedgwood set feel nice and solid. Next check mark is they were 18/10 stainless steel which refers to chromium & nickel content [higher numbers being better]. This is the highest grade of stainless steel typically available for flatware. All the pieces are sensible sizes; the teaspoon and salad forks are usable and not tiny like in some other sets. Bonus points for inclusion of serving utensils. My only hang-up prior to purchase was that the knives are not serrated. I thought they may not cut well or would dull quickly. I was wrong. I clearly over-thought this matter. The knives cut just fine. Lastly and totally subjective, I like the look; it's a simple, clean-looking design without being overly elegant, mirror-polish sheen, and none of those tiny decorative ridges where food can get stuck. Another reviewer noted a concern with discoloring when used with tea. We use the teaspoons every weekend when we make tea and are lazy about rinsing off the spoons. We wash everything in the dishwasher every few days and have had no issues with discoloring. I've owned my new flatware for 6 months now. Love them, super highly recommended. 3-YEAR UPDATE: They still look like new and perform great. I'm still very happy with this purchase.

Gorgeous! Wow! If you are thinking twice just get them. On the picture you know it's stainless steel, it's also a beautiful high polish stainless steel. It has a really good rich and elegant feel, yet still simple for everyday casual use. The set has a nice weight to it and is solid stainless steel. The reason I bring that point up about being solid is I ordered a similar simple design at the same price range and took it out to find dents in the knives. If you are afraid of them looking thin as I thought, don't be. They are a very sturdy and just flawless set. Good job Vera Wang!!

From the images this set looked semi-glossy, but is in fact rather shiny. It is therefore very susceptible to water marks and other marks. I find myself using more dish washing rinse aid than before and having to frequently clean an affected piece by hand. Also the knife has no serration, but only a semi-sharp edge and it much heavier than the other pieces. That said, the metal is good quality. I would probably not have purchased these if I had seen them in person.

Nice weight. The silhouette of this silverware is unique. It has a mirror finish which might show wear quickly. I've only had it less than a month and already see scratches on after running them in the dishwasher. They're nice to look at but not sure if I'd buy them had I known the mirror finish would scratch so easily.

This is great quality flatware. Feels silky and has substance, not hollow or flimsy. Looks beautiful on my table - very happy with this product. (Only problem is the box, they really need to redesign since every one I saw was ripped in the same place. If I wanted to give as a gift so would not have purchased because the package was so ratty - I even sent a photo to Vera Wang customer service but no response.)

I am very disappointed in this flatware set. The feel of the pieces is a little light but the primary problem is discoloration. After 2 months of infrequent use the spoons have dulled and turned slightly brown. In spite of being very careful to rinse off the spoons immediately after stirring a tea cup the spoons rapidly discolored. I would not recommend buying this product.

Very clean lines, nice weight (hefty), nice feel in the hands. Love ! Very happy I selected these after looking at about 75 sets. Great price for the quality.
