Defenders Mega-Sonic Woof! Woof!

Our the nine months old Westies had got into the habit of running down the garden barking. I was sceptical but bought the deterrent in the hope that it might just reduce the nuisance to our neighbours. To my surprise it worked from the moment it was set up. They ran out barking as usual but skidded to a halt and feel silent. We haven't had any trouble with barking since and I am most impressed. Now they bark on the way to the dog flap so perhaps we need one for indoors too. We will certainly buy another one should this one become faulty.

this thing dosent work, its a gimic, no effect whatsoever, a complete waste of money, I think the neighbours dog is barking more

I have had nonstop complaints from my neighbours about the auful screeching sound coming from it and I have been threatened by my neighbours that they will report it to the Guardia Civil if I do not remove it. The most annoying thing is that the dogs ignore it!!

It's difficult to get a clear perspective from reviews on Amazon in general, I find. But faced with the problem of a noisy dog, I decided to take the plunge, and install one of these units.Unfortunately the first one to arrive was damaged due to bad packaging, but a replacement was sent without question or delay.I find I'm in agreement with an earlier review, posted by Bits and Bytes on 25 Jun 2010. The unit does do it's job, and the dog is now completely quiescent. The key thing to remember is that you are training the animal into a new habit, and this takes time. For me it took about two weeks. The dog in question is a fairly compliant soul, so the training time for others could be longer.Key points:- it takes time to re-train a dog out of old habits, and there is no truth in the rumour that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"- positioning is vital; too far away is ineffectual, and too near might be overwhelming - carefully observe behaviour- it might not be wise to leave the unit on all the time and forever, as the dog might start to ignore it; put it back on if old habits start to re-emerge- you should purchase the separate power unit, as it will be paid for by the batteries saved (or use rechargeable batteries)The unit only narrowly missed five stars because I felt the power unit was less of an optional extra than a necessity.

It takes a couple of days to condition the dog, so be patient. It stopped my neighbors dogs constant yapping. This replaced one I had for years and cost almost double the price. I think it is expensive. The wall mounted universal ball joint needs to be improved; unless mine was faulty. It was VERY difficult to manoeuvre, so much so I actually snapped it trying to adjust the angle.

Bought this because of a neighbour's dog. It doesn't work but that may be because it's in the wrong place. It's very heavy with the batteries in so make sure it's secure

I HAD MIXED VIEWS REGARDING THIS ITEM AFTER ONE DAY .. THE WESTIES SEEMED TO HEAR IT BUT WHEN THEY WENT INTO BARKING FRENZY NOTHING STOPPED THEM, BUT I PERSISTED AND AFTER ONLY JUST 3 DAYS I HAVE TO ADMIT THIS ITEM HAS MADE VAST CHANGES TO THE LIVES OF OUR DOGS. THEY ARE NO LONGER NUISANCE BARKERS AND THEIR BEHAVIOUR HAS BEEN MODIFIED TO ALLOW THEM TO POTTER IN AND OUT OF HOUSE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 5YRS .. WONDERFUL TOOL IN MODIFYING DOGS ANTI SOCIAL BARKING ..

Returned original to Defenders not Amazon as it was faulty they replaced it but am returning it today as it useless. Have two Jack Russell puppies and a 4 year old Jack Russell and it just does not have any effect, they just keep barking even when standing next to it. So I have wasted £10 in returning it twice.
