Synthesisers electronic and disco pop songs predominate a disappointing diversion
This is a bit of a leftfield unexpected album for me. There are 9 tracks, and the production is very heavily synthesiser based electronica, with drum machine backing and several of the tracks resound to a strong disco beat. Her voice is a bit deeper on this latest release, and most of the songs clock in at only 3 minutes, apart from the longer track Sister, and the whole album is only 36 minutes long.Compared with her work with EBTG and earlier solo albums, or languid measured vocals with Massive Attack this is very different stylistically. It is not personally my cup of tea, some other reviewers rate it highly, but for me it is an odd diversion, and rather disappointing and a let down. This is a shame as nowadays there are long gaps between her record releases.. I absolutely loved her winter seasonal album Tinsel and Lights, which gets regularly played over the Christmas festive season, and her original songs and singing on that album were great. But here on Record the tracks glide by , I found the disco beats very samey, nothing stays with me, it is all fairly bland and forgettable, for me very lightweight. .All credit for her trying something different and new, but I hope it is only a temporary diversion. For me this is her most disappointing album to date, it does very little for me and is not one I will listen to repeatedly.

Tracey's strongest solo release
This is an absolutely cracking album. In something of a departure from her previous solo albums, the instrumentation is much more electronic and danceable and therefore somewhat reminiscent of the work she did with her husband Ben Watt as the 80s pioneering duo EBTG. But, and it's a big BUT, this album provides the strongest tunes that Tracey has come up with for many a year. When you couple that with one of the greatest and most distinctive voices in contemporary music then you can't lose. Finally, she can write a mighty fine and mature lyric. What a joy to find an artist in her prime after all these years.

Pop at itβs best
Great pop album by Tracey, lovely songs and meaningful lyrics. My personal favourite track is Sister but they are all fine in my eyes. Also just to mention the seller as great delivery time and perfect packaging. Thank you very much.

Record is certainly one of the better records!
It is the best and most meaningful work. She has a wonderful voice that complete all this immaculately electronic setting. My highlight song on album is 'Dancefloor', 'Face' and 'Guitar' (if we exclude singles 'Queen' and powerful 'Sister'). 'Record' is absolutely for recommend and extra bonus is coloured translucent red vinyl.

Intriguing
A very compelling listen , had to play again right away. Lyrics with depth, and intrigue, (even if you don't like them, as one reviewer doesn't), and the sound quality is great, perhaps made possible by increased digital space as not a long album. More please!

Brilliant album full of electronic goodness! Stand outs for me are Queen, Smoke & Dance floor. The translucent red vinyl is gorgeous!
