EXCELLENT LITTLE DEVICE
What a fantastic little module.Wi-Fi operated, but also fully compatible with on/off switch (i.e. light switch).Regardless of it's state (on or off), EITHER a Wi Fi command, *OR* a reversal of the switch position will change it's state. So it can be used with 2-way switching (or even multi-way switching).(The instructions make clear it needs a continuous "make" or an open circuit - a momentary switch won't do.)A note of caution: It is described as a DIY module - which it is - meaning it has to be installed inside an "enclosure" AND the switch wiring has to be isolated from the mains (i.e. it uses volt-free switching). It is small enough to fit behind a UK switch ( if the back box is quite deep), or inside larger lighting fittings. Note: It needs a Neutral (not always availabe at a switch). I installed two units inside a 2-gang plastic patress box in the loft, next to the wiring centre, where a neutral is available).Very easy to install if you have electrical experience - but I wouldn't advise it if you haven't.Initial impression: Quite remarkable for the price.

Easy to fit, works great
Now I just have to find a suitable ceiling rose to cover it.

Easy to install, not so easy to setup
Easy to install, not so straightforward to setup. It might have been me but the quick pairing mode was anything but. When I finally did suss it out (you have to connect to ITS Wi-fi!!!) it worked like a charm

Makes dumb things seem smart (even me)
Picked up two of these to add a couple of extractor fans to our HomeKit setup. The fans in our bathroom and utility room are switched with the lights but we wanted to put Philips Hue bulbs in these rooms. As the Hue bulbs require permanent power this would mean that the fans would also be permanently on. By wiring one of these behind each of the fan isolator switches I now have two new smart fans that can be controlled via HomeKit.I should note that these aren’t compatible with HomeKit out of the box but this is easily remedied by running Homebridge / HOOBS on your network and adding these Sonoff Minis there. I run HOOBS on my Synology NAS which works well for me.Wiring them up was very simple, in my setup it was two wires in and two wires out. If you’re putting these in a back box like I have then make sure it’s not a metal one (I assume it’s to not interfere with the Wi-Fi signal) and you might struggle to fit these into a shallow back box. It’s worth putting them somewhere that you can easily access in future as there is a Wi-Fi pairing button that needs to be pressed on first setup.I’m hoping these turn out to be fit and forget. I have no reason to doubt that they will be.

Convert existing lighting
Have a few of these over the house. Work great with existing lights and switches. There is just a live and neutral feed, live and neutral load to the light and then 2 connections to monitor the switch. You can easily adapt the wiring in a ceiling rose or light fitting.Had a couple fail on me recently making me think the build quality is not the greatest but I can't find an equivalent on amazon.

Worth every penny
Works a treat but the pairing mode as explained in the pamphlet is rubbish, doesn't work properly, keep the button pressed first time till the light flashes Intermittently, then press the button down again until it constantly flashes, then it's in pairing mode, this is the way ALL sonoff devices need to be set, this little beauty runs the 2 way controlled lights in my garage because I'm forever in and out and forgetting the lights, would i buy again ? definitely ! sonoff products are spot on

Easy setup
Easy to wire. Nice and small, fits inside my standard size back box with blanking plate.Would not fit in a small lighting back box with a switch plate attached.Setup and connection worked first time with no faffing about. Maybe best first smart home setup I've seen.

Does not connect to wifi
Absolutely useless at connecting to wifi and being configured with the app. The Sonoff mini is easy enough to physically install, simple wiring and easy to use screw terminals. It's a compact package too so easy to hide within a light fitting. However when it came to setting up the WiFi functionality, I found it absolutely impossible to detect and configure using my phone. The eWeLink app is poorly designed and failed to find the unit at least a dozen times. I tried switching off the 5ghz WiFi in my router and tried another smartphone, no joy. It did pick up the unit once and I thought, "yay! It's actually working!" But then after I cut power to the unit to refit the light fitting, the settings were either lost or could not connect again. Rubbish product, would not recommend. I think I'll switch to the Shelly plus 1 instead.
