Astell&Kern HB1 Wireless and Wired Bluetooth DAC & Amplifier - Shadow Black

This is, honestly, no better than the £9 Apple dongle. The user interface is awful. The device is cheap and plasticky and the BT cuts out when there's a wooden door in the way. When I read about the 'upsampling' technology for a related AK product I realised the whole AK thing is a lot of rubbish. Lots of scientific words that mean nothing. What do I know? I run a small studio, I'm an ex-member of the Institute of Acoustics, an experienced semi-professional musician, technology manager and research scientist with a Ph.D., so I reckon I can spot Bull. AK is Bull. Save your money - they're having a massive laugh at your considerable expense.

Over-priced, terrible interface, short/long/very long button presses are inconsistent and utterly confusing, and why do I have to connect over Bluetooth before I can use the wired connection? And as for those ear-busting bleeps when you disconnect?? Final nail in the coffin is the VERY poor sound quality over Bluetooth. Get yourself a FIIO K11 if you don't need Bluetooth and get yourself a decent pair of buds if you do.

Bought this product as an owner of A&K's SP3000 and PA10 amplifier. The cheap build, the lack of a case and, most importantly, the poor A&K Control app (horrible on both iOS and Android) really take away from what is, otherwise, an OK sounding device. The thing that made me return it is how loud notifications are when used via LDAC- an incoming call nearly led to hearing damage. Stay well away until A&K fix the software..

I got one when they first came out and have used it every day for the last few weeks. I usually use it wired with either my Mac, iPad or iPhone (using the supplied lightning cable for the latter). I have tried Bluetooth and it sounds impressive, but there is a slight improvement when wired. I haven’t tried the mic yet and that was one of the features that appealed (to be able to take a call without have to disconnect anything). I haven’t been a huge fan of Sabre DAC chips in other devices (mainly Audioquest dongles), but the HB1 sounds stunning. I mainly pair it with my ie600’s and it’s a perfect match. I also picked up some Philips X2HR’s on Black Friday and they sound awesome too. They require the volume dial cranked up a bit compared to the ie600’s, but there’s still loads of headroom and more than enough power to drive them. It doesn’t feel as premium as other A&K products and the price tag, it’s mainly plastic and I’ve already managed to scratch it. But it doesn’t really bother me because of the sound quality and it just works flawlessly with everything I’ve tried with it.

J’ai acheté l’Astell&Kern AK HB1 pour un usage de DAC mobile quotidien, mais après test, je vais devoir le retourner. Ce n’est pas un mauvais produit, c’est même une "machine de guerre" sur certains points, mais il y a une erreur de compréhension sur sa destination réelle. L’ergonomie et l’objet : C’est petit, extrêmement léger et la fabrication est propre Les cable sont très qualitatifs. La molette est un vrai plaisir : elle est très fine et propose des cliquetis qui offrent un repère sensoriel indispensable pour savoir exactement ce qu’on fait quand on monte le son. Le multipoint est effectif (testé entre mon ordinateur et mon portable), mais limité à deux appareils simultanés. Le rendu sonore : une question de mariage C’est là que ça se complique. Testé avec des écouteurs Sennheiser E200, le rendu n'est pas adapté. Il semble y avoir une incompatibilité technique. Sur des musiques classiques ou des cuivres (trompettes, attaques rapides), les aigus et hauts médiums dans la plage 3 kHz - 10 kHz sont ultra-agressifs. Par contre, branché sur un casque B&O Beoplay H9, le rendu est excellent, aérien, fin. On redécouvre ses morceaux avec une profondeur et une richesse massives. Le son est prenant, mais je n'ai pas l'intention de racheter des ecouteurs plus cher pour compenser le manque de musicalité du combo HB1/Sennheiser E200 (E200 130€ + HB1 299€). L'égalisation : Subtile. L'EQ propose 5 potards à +/- 4 dB avec des paliers de 1 dB. C’est extrêmement fin et subtil, rien à voir avec certains produits d'entrée de gamme où les variations sont très affirmées. Ici, on est dans la précision chirurgicale. Pourquoi il n'est pas "mobile" : L'autonomie : En seulement 3 heures de transport, il a perdu 38 % de batterie (il restait 62 %). En 2026, on attend d'un objet mobile qu'on le charge une fois par semaine, pas tous les deux jours. La prise d'appel : C’est une option d'appoint. On entend sa propre voix très fort de manière peu naturelle. Comparé à des AirPods Pro, Beoplay ou des Sony XM, c’est très déroutant et gênant. Conclusion : Pour moi, cet objet a été conçu comme un outil très performant pour une écoute exigeante à la maison, quand on veut se faire une "vraie" session d'écoute avec un casque Hi-Fi tout en ayant la possibilité de prendre un appel si besoin. Ce n'est pas un DAC qu'on prend tous les jours pour aller travailler. Si j'avais lu ce retour avant, je ne l'aurais pas commandé pour mon usage nomade. -- MGD

使用環境 android Bravery AE 勘違いしないで欲しいのですが音は良いです。 その他の不満点が多かったので星3です。 まず、アプリが使いにくいです。 一見使いやすそうですが、バグで設定できない項目があります。 その項目が優先度の設定で、有線接続時にUSBの優先度を上げればBluetooth接続からUSB接続へ切り替わるはずなのですが、アプリがクラッシュするので設定できません。 仕方がないのでスマホの設定でBluetooth接続を切ると、Bluetooth接続・切断時の音が爆音で鳴るためイヤホンを外さないといけません。 Bluetooth接続・切断時の音の設定は本製品の設定を参照しているので、イヤホンを外さなくても良い音量に調節すると、今度はスマホの音量設定 バーが90%程度になります。 USB接続時にBluetooth設定を解除している都合上スマホの音量が大きいと、もしUSBケーブルが外れた場合に大事故になるので、使いにくいと言う感想が一番先に来てしまいました。 もう一度言いますが音は良いです。

So this is my first DAC and it works just fine Before that, I used to use the Viper4Android app and Poweramp, but I was limited to my phone for that. But now that I have this DAC, I can listen to all the music on the go and not have to worry about what device I am using. One thing that could be better is the battery and system it uses to control this DAC. I need to be connected to Bluetooth, and when playing music over USB, it doesn't play at the highest available frequency due to it being connected to Bluetooth.

Apres trois mois d'utilisation, il y problème de contact côté USB. Et la communication avec le vendeur n'est pas facile. Je déconseille les deux.
