Only when I really started to pull it in hard with 8 cable ties* using 2 opposed pairs of pliers, did it allow the wheel to rotate freely. OK so I’m using chunky 2.4” Trail King tyres with midrange 100mm “comfort” forks, but effectively, the tyre becomes a “mud pump”, scraping the mud from under the guard. This is all theory since I just fitted them tonight, but it looks very promising, hopefully the mud will not stick to the greasy slippery plastic too well. * - yes, eight (6 supplied) but needed another two in the top “corners” of the fork hoop to pull it away from the chunky edge tyre lugs.Applied some heavy 1.5mm clear stick-on film to the forks/hoop to prevent chafing by the cable ties, which probably will happen.
